Leña y fuego restaurant — Restaurant in East Haven

I’d give Brazzas & Grill 10 stars if Google would let me :) We were on our way back to NY after a day in East Haven. We were super hungry and spotted B&G. A small place, nothing fancy, we almost passed it by in our rush to find food.

Do not be fooled by the humble exterior, the food here is incredible.

This place literally blew my mind. My daughter had a steak platter, and I had ribs, both were just so good. The meat was tender, flavorful and juicy (I’m dreaming about those ribs right now) and the sides were perfectly seasoned. The portions were also perfect, leaning towards generous. I always err on the side of salt, but I didn’t need any with this meal.

Louis (the chef) makes this magical, creamy, pale green, herb sauce that he suggested we try with our meat. The smoky richness of the pork was further enhanced by the addition of this light, herbaceous topping. The sauce was so good, in fact, that I quickly purchased a pint to take home with us. My plan is to put it on everything. Don’t ask for Louis’s secret recipe though, he won’t share it, and he shouldn’t. You’d be wise to grab some bf the price goes up.

We plan on heading back to CT to see the full fall leaves show, and we plan on stopping here for dinner again. If I lived nearby I’d probably eat or order from them...

This qualifies as a hidden gem. There are great reviews already posted but I was skeptical... restaurant is in a small storefront that I missed the first time through. I went in and was handed a well worn menu...I ordered at the register. I told the owner I wanted seafood and asked him to pick. He chose the salmon.

I accepted but was not too excited ... I have salmon a lot and it is far from my favorite However I took a seat. Out came the meal (photo attached) that exceeded all expectations. The salmon was crisp on the outside but wonderfully moist inside...medium rare...the perfect way to taste salmon (for me). There was a light tomato sauce ... Just enough for taste. The roasted potatoes were similarly crunchy on the outside yummy in the inside. I was in heaven.

The place is not much to look at and at dinner it might get crazy. (I was there for a late lunch.) But I will be back with rest of my family for a grill...

Wish I could give lower review. There is no way this restaurant should operate the way they do, horrible experience even worst service. I ordered food from this place and was told 15 minutes, as well as asked if I could pay over phone. I arrived to restaurant about 15 minutes afterwards(3:38 PM), the doors were locked, with no closed signs and time chart reads they are open until 9 PM at night. It is 3 in the afternoon, and why would you make a paying customer wait outside for 35 minutes without picking up the phone calls, or even calling that customer back and informing them that of whatever maybe going on. Really horrible, wish I could get my wasted time back, but I will not be coming back or ordering from this restaurant from...
