La Carreta is a small, but not too small restaurant in an adorable area of East Los Angeles. Inside it is cute, there is plenty of seating and they keep it ever so clean.

The service here is amazing. They take good care of you and will explain the menu to you. There were a few things of which I was not familiar, and it was explained so well and of course we tried it. Yum.

This is a family owned place and I am not sure but I think one of owners was our server. She was just so lovely.

This is traditional Mexican food, but there are things you don't tend to see elsewhere. We always like to try new things. All of it was great.

Their burrito rojo or the burrito relleno are both great. You can get this at most great Mexican places. These were super good. Their chips are great as are their beverage offerings. They do not sell alcohol.

This was our first time having chilaquiles con nopales and camarones ranchero and boy were they great. We all shared everything.

They are only open for breakfast and lunch. You can dine there, do take out or have a delivery service get your food. We ate there. They make you...

For the best Mexican family style food in town, Come to La Carreta! Vegetarian options make eating here divine! I absolutely love the Nopales dishes! They serve to order and don’t skimp on the quality or quantity! The owners do it right! They do close early so don’t expect to stroll in at 5 pm! I especially love that they serve breakfast all day long!

This place is small and is hopping at the usual busy hours, breakfast, at lunch and especially on weekends! So you might have to wait a bit. But it’s worth the wait!

Imagine a delicious Mexican home cooked meal that your Grandmother dished out! That’s what you’ll find here! They even offer smaller portions for kids!...

Good home style Mexican cooking... I gotta admit though, for being East L.A. I was hoping for a little more flavor. Had the chilaquiles estilo Maria, and they were pretty good. My girlfriend had the combination plate with Chile relleno and enchiladas, they were ok at best. Service is ok, our waitress had us waiting for a few minutes and they didn’t give us proper utensils. Simple things like a cup of water where taking a bit too long to come around. All nagging aside, I would still recommend it. It is hard to find home style Mexican...

New owners who waited on us and seemed to care about this place that is a wonderful throwback to the old days and has been in operation since 1930. The food is very good; they also bought the recipes. When we came back a second time it took half an hour to order because the waitress was absent from the place - another table also came in and then they were served first. I would not go back; there are too many other places in the neighborhood. They use store-bought tortillas unlike other places nearby.

A sweet little piece of Mexico with its full flavors and full onset artistry feel. Love. love the chorizo burritos, chilaquilles w/sunny side up eggs and Machaca with rice and beans. It's what I had and since then I've been hooked. I enjoy coming here with my husband and enjoying a quiet and flavorful Mexican dish- reminding me of my childhood days - eating good home cooked Mexican food. I strongly recommend La Carreta Mexican Restaurant. Street parking only.
