La Carreta is a small, but not too small restaurant in an adorable area of East Los Angeles. Inside it is cute, there is plenty of seating and they keep it ever so clean. The service here is amazing. They take good care of you and will explain the menu to you. There were a few things of which I was not familiar, and it was explained so well and of course we tried it. Yum. This is a family owned place and I am not sure but I think one of owners was our server. She was just so lovely. This is traditional Mexican food, but there are things you don't tend to see elsewhere. We always like to try new things. All of it was great. Their burrito rojo or the burrito relleno are both great. You can get this at most great Mexican places. These were super good. Their chips are great as are their beverage offerings. They do not sell alcohol. This was our first time having chilaquiles con nopales and camarones ranchero and boy were they great. We all shared everything. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. You can dine there, do take out or have a delivery service get your food. We ate there. They make you feel at home.

New owners who waited on us and seemed to care about this place that is a wonderful throwback to the old days and has been in operation since 1930. The food is very good; they also bought the recipes. When we came back a second time it took half an hour to order because the waitress was absent from the place - another table also came in and then they were served first. I would not go back; there are too many other places in the neighborhood. They use store-bought tortillas unlike other places nearby.

A sweet little piece of Mexico with its full flavors and full onset artistry feel. Love. love the chorizo burritos, chilaquilles w/sunny side up eggs and Machaca with rice and beans. It's what I had and since then I've been hooked. I enjoy coming here with my husband and enjoying a quiet and flavorful Mexican dish- reminding me of my childhood days - eating good home cooked Mexican food. I strongly recommend La Carreta Mexican Restaurant. Street parking only.

Was super hungry so decided to stop by for a quick bite . Ordered chiliquiles with sour cream . Never got the sour cream . Asked for tortillas for the watery beans , never got them until I was almost done with my meal . The place is super small which is fine but with it not being packed , you should be able to get the order correct. Overall food was not good enough to return for me .

La Carreta is a small in the whole restaurant serving amazing Mexican food making everything fresh from scratch from their small kitchen. We have been coming to the La Carreta for couple of years enjoying their homemade cuisine. The restaurant is very popular and always gets pack with the locals and people across the city to venture to the restaurant to tryout the food.
