Charlie's Place Restaurant — Restaurant in East Lyme

Last night 8/5/2023 we had a reservation for 4ppl at 6pm ... we got there At 5:45pm and was seated right away in the bar area...after looking at specials & menu our server Lori took our drink order... we received our drinks and Lori started taking our order we ordered appetizers & dinners.... we waited quite a while for appetizers to come out finally received them... them we waited an hour & 15 mins for our dinners! Our server kept checking and told us she didnt know why it was taking so long! 3 of us received our dinners and our 4th never got her salad or dinner... finally dinner came before her salad and it wasnt what she ordered!!! Another server came over to "fix" the error but by that time we were so done w poor service we wanted to walk out! They gave my friend another drink from the bar for free but dinner still never came out and she had to ask a 3rd time for her salad!!!! My husbands pot roast dinner was good but he said he noticed portions were getting smaller & smaller every time we came back!!! And our other friends so called broiled "Fisherman's platter" looked like a glorified "Lean Cuisine" frozen dinner out of the box! Not a $32 dinner at all!!!! My cobb salad was good but completely thrown together like in a rush to get it out to me! Just want to say we wont be back this is second time after new owner took over thinking after first we would give a second chance being new owners but we won't be back....very sad we used to love this...

Took mom out for mothers day, hadn't been here before but reservations were available. When we pulled up my first impression said well this is why they had open availability. But to my surprise once we got inside and sat down, we were greated by a very friendly waitress. We got drinks promptly and even though we took forever she was kind and kept coming back to check on us. Now ofcoarse you all must want to know if the food is any good. I will tell you its on the pricey side. Not just for the type of resturant but the atmosphere as well as the food. It was all very good. I really didn't have any complaints the soup was great, the wings were delicious. The steaks are subpar for the price but still a good steak I will not take away from that. All of the food we got was good. The drinks I got were also quite tasty and on the adult side. But its always good to have a decent drink menu as well as food options. Speaking of which lastly I wanted to say I was most surprised and happy about the menu size, as in options, it seemed to have a very wide range of food you don't see typically. Very disappointed. Our first clue was it was a Saturday night and there were almost no cars and only one other table utilize in the dining room. When we ordered they were very inflexible about substituting vegetables for potatoes and even something so basic was an extra charge. A double order of spinach was the size of a couple of spoonfuls and was mostly stems. Well they try to explain that was their normal double portion the truth came out when we found out they had no more left. The barbecue brisket the day are known for in described as lean and moist came out with a third of it fat on top. Our water was never refilled let alone never received the lemon we requested. The french fries I said I did not want came out with on the plate that were cold and dried out. We were told the owner would come to speak with us but he also refused to come out even though we saw him in the distance. We are new to the area and looking for a new place to regularly go to. It was clear they didn't care about...
