I've been coming here for years during trips to the shore and have always loved the food and experience. Unfortunately, my visit this past weekend left me really upset and concerned.
When I was ordering with Grace, I felt rushed and dismissed. I asked for the Skipper's Signature burger but ended up with a plain one. She never clarified the order, never repeated it back - I can only guess she just punched in whatever she thought I meant.
What really bothered me was how she handled my dairy allergy. When I told her, she brushed me off with a very dismissive "So no cheese," as if that was the only concern. My burger came out with butter slathered all over the bun, which could have made me very sick. I didn't know the burgers are topped with butter because every other time I've visited, my allergy was not an issue. When I checked the receipt, she hadn't noted my allergy at all.
Thankfully a member of the kitchen staff, who noticed me waiting at the window with my food, quickly re-made my meal. Grace never took responsibility or tried to make it right. She kept her distance and stood back glaring at me while the cook passed me the re-made meal.
This is unacceptable. Food allergies are serious and ignoring them can put customers in real danger. To the owners: please take this matter seriously and train your staff properly. I'd hate for someone else to have a far worse...
Read moreMy family and I have been going to Skippers for years in the Niantic location. Always had great seafood, generous portions and great pricing. They actually got me through the pandemic with their take out offerings, we visited almost every other week. This year something changed and not for the better. We went sometime in June and the portions were half of what they used to be. And the food was not very tasty, bland. I had shrimp tacos and literally it was like minced shrimp and not much of it, strangest taco I have ever had... chalked it up to a bad night at the beginning of a new summer season. Decided to try it again this evening and it's still the same, unfortunately. My 4 year old finished off an adult fish and chips dinner and still had room to eat the roll from my clam strip roll so that should tell you what the portion size is like. Breading has little flavor and the fries are very dark and maybe I counted 15 fries on the plate. Value for the price is not there and I know I won't be back, it's a shame. I over heard the table next to me make the same remarks about how expensive it was for the food they received. I noticed someone ordered a salad and it was lucky if it was 5 bites. I hope it can return to what it one was but...
Read moreI really enjoyed the food once I got there. I called as I was passing through Fall River, MA searching Google looking for somin' nice. My first of 2 questions were "how 1. long you have been in business"? 20 years he answered. and do you have lobster. He said yes, which gave me the impression that I was going to a oyster, lobster, or Clam House type restaurant. When I got there I realized it was pretty much a fast food type (seafood) place...and that was okay but a Lobster Roll was not the thing that I was l looking for. $113.00, in my opinion was way too much for "fast food" seafood. I'm going to leave it at that. However, please look at the receipt and pull the video tape for that trans. You will see that I called the gentleman who took my order three separate times, from my table, engaged in the deep conversation with another individual in the right backhand corner of the estab. He never replied to my ask, as a result of being so occupied with the woman. I'll safely assume was an employee, he'd talked to. Pull the video tape!!! My Dad& I had the fish and chips with pleasure. My brother enjoyed the lobster roll. I have no problem with the food. Other than that I...
