Unfortunate experiences here - and I say unfortunate because their drink and food menu are so unique for our area - and much needed! I wish I could give a good review.
I have given Farmhouse the opportunity to make matters better, but after no response after no response, false promises, terrible service...I am inclined to finally write a public review. Disappointed is an understatement. There are 2 sections - dine in service issues and Event Catering issues.
DINE IN: First, my fiance and I went in to have lunch. The service was horrible - I have 10+ years of prior restaurant experience, so I don't say that lightly - I have empathy for the service industry. But - horrible again, is an understatement.
I don't even know where to begin. It took 45 minutes to get my soup which I ordered as an appetizer to my salad, which I ordered with no bacon.
I received bacon on my salad and couldn't eat it.
Waiting almost 90 minutes for grilled shrimp on a salad - while I saw food literally sitting on the counter MELTING (whipped cream) while the OWNER was making herself a drink and talking (socializing not working). The food was sitting there for over five minutes - not a single thought to run the food went through her mind. Our waitress.....was eating cheesecake behind the bar, while my drink was empty, my food was taking 90 minutes, and again someone else's food was sitting on the counter in clear view not being run. When the waitress finally served the couple their melted food she looked at me, saw my empty drinks, and just turned around. I had to shout "EXCUSE ME" may I please have more water while I wait for my food???
When the bacon came, my fiance got up to officially complain - the owner simply said sorry and comped our food. I wrote to them privately to explain my experience and it took about 2 weeks for response. The owner, April I believe, apologized and made excuses about a cook having kidney issues. Which....I don't think any of my complaint had anything to do with the food. It actually had to do with everything BUT the food. (I hope he's okay).
NEXT - EVENT ISSUES: I was trying to plan a bridal shower event. My MOH emailed and called MANY Times. I Facebook messaged, wrote on a public post asking for response, and we even WENT THERE to get help. There was no manager in sight - it was all run by college students. The entire place....which is fine, but no one could help make any managerial decision or get us in touch with anyone. We couldn't get any information on booking an event.
Multiple times I've seen Farmhouse post about their catering and events....and multiple times I've commented could you PLEASE reach out to me. It has been 6-8 weeks since our initial efforts. We've had to move on.
I hope someone can improve the service quality because relying on tourists who only visit once and move on is a shame. And this is not a "worker shortage" issue - there were PLENTY of workers. This is a severely POOR MANAGEMENT...
Read moreMy family and I came in the other day and I wouldn’t come back even if I was paid to do so. Overall when I walked in the place was dirty, I gave it the benefit of the doubt because I figured they just had a rush but no the staff just doesn’t clean. After being sat at a dirty table that had to be cleaned with crumbs and scraps wiped into our laps by our server, we were then rushed to order food and drinks, we were told that the restaurant wasn’t stocked with enough supplies to make the bar drinks so they didn’t recommend ordering any. Ordered some coffees and to my surprise the decaf coffee they made me was just watered down with hot water. And then sat on the bar counter for 10 minutes before it was brought to me. My table never even got refills or the waters we asked for. We were rushed to order food and then after giving the order our food came to our table 45 minutes later and wasn’t even the right food. I overheard the cook tell my server they were out of impossible meat and the server told the cook “ you can throw regular meat in it they obviously need the meat on their bones” they giggled and then brought out meat to my vegan 10 year old daughter. My son is allergic to shrimp and after telling the staff to make sure they don’t contaminate his food. They then charged me for extra shrimp and put shrimp on his food. My wife and I ordered the Brooklyn burger and a lobster Mac and cheese. The mac wasn’t even baked and had unmelted cheese sprinkled on it with over cooked pasta, my wife asked for her burger well done and she received it rare. After telling our server she then told us “my kitchen said they’re not remaking it so I don’t know what to tell you. The owner doesn’t want me to waste food so I’m going to have to charge you still.” We left angry, hungry, disgusted, and paid for food we couldn’t even eat. And the icing on the cake you ask? The owner rushing tables and groups of people out the restaurant and then making snarky comments and rude jokes about her customers, and other people bringing in Weis food products. I can really see what kind of “family values” and “farm to table” food they have. 0 stars. Coming forth the owner then replied to try and say this is a fake review. Will be uploading pictures of bad food and videos of service and dirty restaurant to a site where truth can be written about freely without false claims from a mediocre business owner. The clear disrespect for staff and customers is unreal and if you don’t believe me or the other negative reviews. You can now see that your favorite usual staff is also no longer there. They were replaced as quickly as they restock with local grocery store food. Will definitely be contacting officials who can do something about this new con of...
Read moreI waited on posting my review only because I really wanted to give this place a shot and I wanted them to succeed. I kept trying to give Pocono Farmhouse a shot because I REALLY, REALLY wanted this concept to work for the Poconos. Being from New York, we don’t have many options like this here and being a former independent business owner myself I know it’s not easy. I’ve tried this restaurant about a dozen times and they just can’t get it right 😔 and it all comes down to the Chef. The first two occasions that I dined I was hooked, after that it’s been hit or miss at both locations.
Today my family treated me to brunch for my birthday and it was just awful. Air fried, dry chicken tenders and a gummy waffle was what I experienced today for their chicken and waffles. My MIL’s Sweet baby Jesus had no crabmeat and her grits were cold, my Sisters shrimp and grits were cold and my Mothers waffle was blah. The mimosa flight was the only thing great, thank God for that. The Server was very sweet. I’ve had her before. Last week we went for lunch and the salmon was very dry. I’ve voiced my displeasure privately to management before and was told there was an issue with the Chef and to come back for a complimentary meal, I did come back, but I did not mention the complimentary meal because it’s not that serious for me.
There is an issue that I need to bring to light. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not one to nickel and dime and I will pay top dollar for good food and good service. My Husband often refers to me as the tip Police because I’m a very generous tipper, 20% is my standard.
However, the restaurant adds a 20% gratuity to the bill for parties of five or more plus a credit card fee. I paid this two weeks ago despite the service being substandard.
Today, we had a party of 4 and yet the 20% gratuity was added to our bill despite the bill clearly stating for parties 5+ and they also added a fee for paying with a credit card, but no one asked us how we intended to pay. We paid with cash, so we had to have the bill adjusted twice.
I’ve dined at some of the best restaurants around and have never paid a credit card fee. I dined at Ocean Prime New York, paid $600/$200 per person and guess what, NO CREDIT CARD FEE!!! This is the age of digital wallets and plastic…that’s the cost of doing business and this cost should not be passed along to customers. Shame on you Farmhouse!!! Needless to say, we won’t be back, just not...
