We found this place online and decided to give it a shot. The last two steakhouses we’ve been to in the poconos were disappointing. So I didn’t know what to expect. The young lady’s sat us in the back. The lighting was slightly dim thereby adding to the cozy/intimate setting. The temperature was a little cooler for my comfort, but I could deal with it.
Our server Jess, who also happened to be the person making our drinks was really a delight. It was mystery cocktail evening. So you had a choice of tequila or bourbon. Everytime you ordered one, the establishment would do something different. Very unique and helps customers especially when they are unsure of what to get.
The house bread was amazing, especially with their house butter. Slight crisp on the outside, soft within.
The crab cake was fresh and super tasty, none of that bread crumb filling. And what a great price point.
We ordered the saffron lobster pasta, and the cowboy ribeye. Hands-down, this was the best steak I’ve had in Pennsylvania. You cut through this ribeye like it was butter. The lobster was so tasty and flavorful. The pasta was cooked just right not too hard not too soft. Same goes for the lobster.
For reasons beyond my knowledge, even after we finished both entrées. We still had room for dessert.
I’m sure my A1c went up after consuming this brownie. But it was well worth it. The staff was great, and the food was amazing. If we ever pass through this area again, we will...
Read moreI have to say this dining experience is drastically oversold. We took my family there for an anniversary outing with my mother-in-law. While waiting for our meal we were served cold potato rolls, that looked identical to the ones you see sold in walmart stores, with olive oil. After one bite we set it aside. It lacked all flavor and just plain butter would have been better. I wish I could say I could wash down the taste with my Dr pepper I ordered but sadly I had to send that back as it was flat and tasted like it came from a 2L that had been opened for a month.
For my meal I ordered the Filet Mignon. To say it was disgusting is an understatement. It had no flavor and was severely overcooked. When my mother-in-law tasted it she asked me if it was petrified. When my husband tasted it, he immediately spit it out in disgust asking me if they served me dog food. All I could tell him is I hope not as no one deserves to eat anything that revolting. Thankfully we had table sides of mashed potatoes and asparagus otherwise I would have had nothing to eat.
My husband had the ribeye, it was cooked correctly, and had flavor. The downside was it was 80% fat and very little actual meat on it. It was actually the fastest ribeye he's ever been served.
My mother-in-law had the wagyu steak. It was undercooked but it had good flavor and was editable.
For an over $200 meal most of my party had the sides that were worth $20. That speaks volumes to the quality of the food...
Read moreOverall - Food was great. Service - lacking.
We were from out of state, celebrating an anniversary and birthday - 7 people. Based on the menu we chose to dine at Rare&Rye. It was Sunday night at 730, we were one of 2 tables in the restaurant. Graduation was the same weekend, so some items were sold out, which is not a problem, we all ordered what we wanted. The server was visibly shaking, sweating, and smelled like alcohol. He spoke at length about items no longer on the menu and the 'famous' bartender who was not working that night. After being served my cocktail he returned with a mini blow torch to light the rosemary on fire, right in front of my face, muttering something about how she knows if they don't torch the garnish. The cocktails were delicious, however - 10/10. After sitting for an hour, we finally placed our order for dinner. I ordered a nice bottle of wine and asked for it to be decanted. The wine service/bottle opening was so awkward and sloppy. It took another 30 min to get our food. The steaks were great, perfectly cooked to temp and the sides were hot and delicious. The server was accosting the busser while he was clearing our plates, who was clearly new and shy. We were served desserts without any acknowledgment of the celebrations and did not see the server after that. I had to ask the bartender for our bill, no thanks on the way out, after spending close to $1000. Lackluster,...
