Tried this place during the week , I believe it was this past weds evening . Place was busy with orders constantly being called in ; inside was maybe six other people dining in . I tried the pulled chicken (spicy ) w/ collard greens and macaroni and cheese. A decent portion of pulled chicken in which what makes it spicy I presume is it mixed w/ franks or some other form of bbq sauce and a side of blue cheese or ranch . Collard greens is a hard no for me ; not my personal preference- perhaps you may love them . Macaroni and cheese was tasty and creamy , I devoured it . Overall my meal was ten bucks and some change .
Here is my reasoning for the subpar rating ; their were three employees total working that evening . Two young men in the back / these guys were working trying to get orders out in a timely manner and there was an gentleman at the front working as cashier and assembling the orders as they came up.
The two young men in the back had a very nice length of hair - long hair; long enough and a decent amount of facial hair . It was alarming to me they had no form of netting to protect their hair from potentially falling into the food and I observed the young men touch their hair or scratch their head several times and then continue to assembly an order.
Customer service - never felt unwelcome by no means , but I did feel slightly rushed when placing my order and there was no other patrons behind me . It was my first visit and their menu isn’t extensive but I was undecided initially.
Oh the bbq sauce - is they have three different types of sauce - one is vinegar based , hot and spicy and regular I believe. I opted for the spicy version ; good recipe there .
Overall my meal was edible and tasty , I just don’t personally think I will frequent this establishment again. Again it was a busy place so apparently they are doing...
Read moreThis review is August 1st, 2022. I went there the day before. I was looking for a BBQ place and Google maps pointed me here. It's about a 20 minute drive from Exton, so I drove there. Their site showed that they open at 10 am, so I arrived at 10:05. Walked up to the door however it was locked. And it was dark inside. So as I stated to walk away, a young lady inside ran to the door and unlocked it and apologized. So I walk in to a large room that had to be easily 100 degrees. 🔥. I understand that it's a BBQ place, but where's the air conditioning or any ventilation? So I walked up to the counter to place my order TO GO (I would have eaten in, but it was almost 40 degrees cooler outside. I ordered a Brisket sandwich, and asked the girl if it was on a ROLL. She said yes. I said I don't want it on a 'burger' bun, but she assured me that it was a roll. Also order their Dirty Corn. The food was ready in about 10 minutes. I get home, sit down and open the plastic container. To my dismay, the brisket on a BUN. (Not the roll that we discussed). I picked up the bun to take a bite, and of course the entire sandwich fell apart. Buns get SOGGY with 'hot' meat on them.. So I pulled out a fork and knife, cut up the sandwich, and began eating it one bite at a time. Opened the container of dirty rice, which was loaded with celery (hard to digest) and put a fork full in my mouth. The corn was hard. It was sweet. It was inedible. And the brisket was tough, stringy and had some fat on it. Bottom line is I certainly don't blame the girl for the quality of the food, but certainly for NO ROLL. This...
Read moreI’m a bbq fanatic and have eaten it all across America - especially down south where it’s the best! I also went to culinary school and worked in high end restaurants. I truly had high hopes for this place. The brisket was out of the world delicious!! I loved the sweet potatoes they weren’t swimming with seasoning to cover up the potato flavor - to me they were perfect. The Mac and cheese was pretty standard that was a hit. However, that’s where to good ends. The ribs were awful they didn’t fall off the bone you had to rip and tear just not a good cook on them at all BUT flavor was really really good. I ordered mild sausage but they gave me sweet (I’m not a fan of sweet so I didn’t care for it but if you like sweet sausage it probably was real yummy), the chicken was flavored very well and tasted pretty amazing but it was kind of dry. The beans seemed like they sat out for too long or something. Really thick and weirdly sweet. I personally wasn’t a fan but if you like your beans in a thick sweet sauce i can see how they would be good. I just didn’t care for them. As for the service it was a little weird. Not my preferred vibe from a staff. I did not feel welcome at all but there was a nice kid working the line and he kind of saved the experience enough for me not to just cancel my entire order. Jimmys is worth a shot if you like bbq - especially their brisket!!! but personally it...
