I wanted to like Daddy’s Place so bad because the reviews definitely say 5 star meals, however it just wasn’t up to par for me.
The good:
• The portion sizes are nice. • The employees are friendly when you can get their attention. • I was told by an employee that they have halal meat so good news for anyone who is looking for zabihah (however there is quite a bit of pork on the menu so I’m not sure if the halal meat is cooked separately or what. Definitely ask more questions if you only eat zabihah.)
The not so good: • The pricing is all over the place which bugs me. So it will say things like $8 for a shrimp add on but $10-12 for a chicken add on.
It seems to be catering towards a brand of people who are willing to pay certain prices because they believe they're eating something different. And whoever set the prices were smart because they know that their customers are willing to pay that when they’re only used to McDonald’s in the area.
For example: I ordered chicken kabobs for take out w/ a side of rice and tabouli. The entrees come with two sides however you’re upcharged anywhere between $4-7 if you order anything other than rice, house salad, grilled veggies, and soup of the day.
So that means chicken kabobs originally $22, after getting rice and tabouli as my included sides, my total came to $28 just for that one meal. $30 for chicken, rice, and salad is ridiculous even with current inflation accounted for! Maybe if I was from the surrounding area I would be impressed but I’m not and I know that could get the same dish for $12 less and a lot more care in regards to flavor.
I may have been willing to overlook the price if the kabob was seasoned. It was severely under seasoned and I actually had to salt it myself.
I also ordered grape leaves and plain hummus. They were both adequately priced at $7 (which kind of proves my point about inconsistent menu pricing as the rest of the hummus was $9-11 for small add-ons such as cayenne, chickpeas, or pine nuts).
They were both just okay in flavor and mainly seemed like they were catered to a more basic palette that isn’t used to Lebanese (or any similar) food.
In total I spent $42 not including tax. If I dined in I would have also tipped meaning that one person would probably spend $50 here give or take.
I’m not saying that I won’t ever visit again however if I do, it’s definitely with these...
Read moreFortunate for them your not able post w/o a star because i wouldn't give ANY.
On Saturday evening a friend who has eaten here a few times before, stopped in to get me a $28 entree. It was, Lamb Kabobs, Rice topped w Almonds, & House salad.
1st the rice wasn't fully cooked. 2nd the cucumbers were old, you could see the moisture in them. The tomatoes were mushy. 3rd the lamb was dry & over cooked.
Anyway it's sad to say that you've lost a current & a potentially new customer, & I'm still out of $28!
Upon opening the bag you could see that the salad wasn't fresh or worth eating. Looking at the lamb you can clearly see that it was over cooked. I did eat 1 skewers of the kabob because I was at work & very hungry. When I put a fork full of uncooked rice in my mouth that's when I was turned off completely.
I called them back to tell them of my issues & all the man on the phone could say is. "I've been serving this rice all night so what do you want me to do"! In an angry & disrespectful way. I said "I would like a refund because the meal is Unedible", in my opinion. He said there is nothing he could do to compensate me for the horrible rice & salad because it's a side order included w the entree.
He didn't try to offer me any other sides, & said that I would not be able to have a refund because there isn't any extra cost for the included sides. Each item has it's own individual price so in my opinion that is ridiculous.
After my friend went back to try to have an in person conversation, all he did was give her another rice & salad. Needless to say she won't be going back there anymore. However, Grilled Lamb Kabob ($10) is on the menu as a side order w a salad. I would've just offered to pay for those if he didn’t have such a nasty...
Read moreWOW! Had a 6 pm dinner reservation for 4 with my family. Arrived to a noisy poorly managed restaurant that took 15 minutes to acknowledge us and we stood waiting for our table in between the front door and the counter with tables around us. Greeted finally then another party came in after us and we seated and acknowledged right away. 35 minutes later they seated us and 10 minutes later a male arrived without any courtesy hello or welcome and asked us what we wanted to order. We then asked for water and some appetizers. Plates and silverware just place in the middle of the table stacked up. W once we gave our order, another 10 minutes of being ignored to even get water. A blonde female and a dark haired male seemed to be running this restaurant that was completely chaotic, unfriendly. We then decided being there nearly 45 minutes and not receiving any service whatsoever we got up and walked out. We are frequently going to restaurants and this one sits as the worst place to go to enjoy yourself. Never got to try any food. We got in our car and drove to Messa in downtown Easton and we were professionally greeted, seated and enjoyed a wonderful meal. We generally tip from 30 to 100 percent if the service warrants it. So thank you Messa. We will not be going to Daddy’s Place. Good luck there. You will need it! ...
