I pulled up to this location and noticed a really long line so in no immediate rush, I parked my car and walked inside. It was obvious that the staff behind the counter was hustling to properly cater to the long line of cars- you have to admire the pep in their step.
However, it must be pretty hard to do when a manager-like figure was yelling at them from the other side of the counter, blocking my (the paying customer’s) path to the register to place my order.
Being someone who has worked in the service industry for almost 10 years now, I can understand that addressing your staff about request offs, and the schedule being posted (especially with summertime vacation time and requests pouring in) can be exasperating but there is also a time & place.
I was embarrassed for not only the manager but the current staff behind the counter who were getting scolded, not only while they had a line of 20 cars outside but also myself, one other person behind me in line to order and two other patrons in the sitting area.
It was very off putting to know that in that moment it was more important for a manager to “make her point” to her employees instead of allowing them to continue to work hard in what was clearly an already busy/intense/preoccupied situation.
My drink was delicious and was produced in a timely manner, which was the only saving grace of the whole scenario.
My heart goes out to those employees. As for management,...
Read moreI pulled up to order and sat there. I waited and waited and nothing. I eventually pulled up to the window and explained that nobody took my order. There was a piece of paper on the screen that was all wet I could not read. I assumed it wasn't working. That's why I drove up to the window. The girl who helped me was kind, but overwhelmed. She asked her manager for help and the manager "Perla" was not only rude to her but nasty to me. The manager began slamming on the register aggressively and telling the girl "she this and she that" referring to me. I told her there was no need to be rude and asked for her name which she refused to give. She walked away leaving her helpless employee there. The employee was nice enough to give me the managers name and apologized. I didn't eat my order or drink my coffee as I could see clearly that my drink was spit in. I left and decided I'd share my disturbing experience here. If Perla is the actual name of the manager I can say this. She is rude to her customers, rude to her staff and if she is in a bad mood don't eat or...
Read moreEatontown Starbucks has been a hit or miss for me in the past. I was never a fan of the long lines and just being counted as a number and not a person. But I will say- It has changed! I had ordered my drink in drive thru and it was made incorrectly, I did not want to hold up the line, so I went around and went inside, the barista, Gabby, greeted me immediately, apologized for the wrong order and offered to correct it- which was great and very generous of her. Another time, I did an order pickup inside and it was raining..pouring, I went through the drive thru instead and when I got to the ordering station, the barista, Grace was very polite and stated she would grab my drink from the pickup counter and hand it to me in drive through- she was very polite, smiling, and personable. I also had interactions with David, when he is on drive-thru; he will always ask me if the drink is correct before I pull of, which is very kind of him. I would recommend this Starbucks if you’re looking for some...
