A Nostalgic Trip to Wendy’s in Eatontown: Close to Perfect with Just a Dash of Quirky
So, I found myself sitting in a Wendy’s in Eatontown, chowing down on a plain baked potato with sour cream and a small chili—classic comfort food. Naturally, I had to pair it with a Frosty, because, well, some traditions should never die. As I sat there, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of a busy lunchtime, I couldn’t help but feel a little nostalgic. You see, I used to work at Wendy’s about 40 years ago in Florida, back when the chili was meatier, the floors were spotless, and the Frosty machines were a little less… temperamental.
First off, hats off to the staff here. Donna, the first customer service hero who greeted me, was as efficient and friendly as you could ask for. Del, the shift manager, was also doing a stellar job keeping everything running smoothly. It’s clear the team at this Wendy’s takes customer service seriously. Every order was handled with care, and the atmosphere was welcoming. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear the guy behind the counter was my long-lost brother—friendly face and all.
Now, let’s talk chili. The taste? Spot on. Just the right amount of spice and warmth to make you feel like you’re getting a hug from the inside. But, I noticed it was a bit more watery and had less meat than the chili I used to whip up back in the day. I get it—corporate decisions and all—but maybe a tiny nudge towards that original hearty recipe would make it even better.
The baked potato was exactly what you’d expect from Wendy’s, which is to say, comforting in its simplicity. No frills, just a good, solid baked potato. And the Frosty? Well, we had a bit of a saga with that. I was all set for their new signature Triple Berry Frosty—ready to indulge in a burst of berry goodness. But, when it arrived, it was just a plain white Frosty, berryness in sight. It took about 15 minutes, but they eventually got it right. When the real Triple Berry Frosty finally arrived, it was exactly what I expected—delicious and full of that berry flavor. So, all was forgiven, but a smoother rollout of their new flavors would go a long way.
Now, onto the dining area floor. It was clean and well-maintained, which is always a relief. However, I did notice a couple of wet spots. Being the vigilant (and slightly clumsy) person I am, I mentioned it to Donna. To her credit, she was already on top of it. She promptly addressed the issue, making the floor safe and dry for everyone. It’s little things like this that show the staff’s commitment to maintaining a high standard, but a bit more vigilance in preventing these minor hiccups would elevate the experience even further.
All in all, my visit to Wendy’s in Eatontown was a delightful blend of nostalgia and modern-day fast food goodness. The staff, led by Del, was top-notch, the food was comforting, and the atmosphere was friendly. With just a few tweaks—maybe a meatier chili and a smoother rollout of new Frosty flavors—this place would be an absolute gem. I left satisfied, full, and with a smile on my face, which is really all you...
Read moreThis whole building has a massive attitude problem. You are working CUSTOMER SERVICE JOBS. There is no reason you can’t utter a single word to a customer..had a mobile order, went to the drive through speaker and sat for a while without any acknowledgment, then someone says “hello?” I said hi I’m picking up a mobile order. “Second window” ok thank you..get to the second window and one girl pours the soda and hands the cup out the window to me “thank you” I say. She closes the window and a few minutes later a second girl hands me my bag of food “thank you” I say again. She closes the window and walks away. If you really can’t muster a “you’re welcome” or “have a good night” or ANYTHING you shouldn’t be working with customers. Not a single word was said except for “second window”. Not to mention, they are the SLOWEST even if you’re the only car at the building. Ridiculous and will take the farther drive to Shrewsbury or ocean township from now on. Tonight my order was miraculously right but this is surprising as usually something is wrong or missing. I’ve had enough of this location, you’d think they’d be better since they’re the newest one in the area but they are by...
Read moreWent around 9:50pm wasn’t even busy no cars or anything looked like it was closed ordered my food in the drive thru, 2 small chili’s and 2 Jr cheeseburger deluxe was an easy order right? I gotta walk back there again and get it. Well Isn’t that your job?? Very poor customer service skills need better training in that building smh. I worked at a Wendy’s and stuff like that wasn’t acceptable. The customer is always right! I will not be going to this Wendys again. I recommend you do the same unless you wanna be...
