Broad Street Diner — Restaurant in Edenton

This was my second visit. The first time was during the grand opening and the food came out hot, quick and great friendly service including meeting one of the owners. The other owner was in the kitchen/chef. Today’s visit was a totally different experience with the same wait staff. We even had the same server. The food we ordered, an omelet and a Club sandwich, took over 30 minutes to come from the kitchen. Meanwhile, our server ignored us and never said “let me check on your order, it will be right out,” never refilled our drinks, acted like she could have cared less. When the food finally came out, it was cold and of poor quality. THIS food was over priced, costing the two of us $30 before tip and we only had water to drink. We were so disappointed today because during the grand opening, we thought we had found a real gem of a place to eat and one of the only places in town that is open on Sunday. My wife and I went to Broad Street Diner tonight. Yes, they started serving dinner there tonight. Even though it was dinner time and there were many tasty items on the dinner menu, I chose those steak and eggs off the breakfast menu. Yes, they still serve breakfast, even for dinner. I asked for my steak cooked medium and it was so tender I cut it with my fork. My eggs over easy were just the way I love them. Topped it off with grits and toast, oh yeah!! My wife got the she crab soup and I think she licked the bowl clean. They won't have to wash that one tonight. My mother even tagged along and even though she had already eaten earlier, got a chocolate brownie covered in vanilla ice cream. Didn't even save me a bite. The place was immaculate and our waitress Taylor, was just as pleasant as she could be, and kept checking on us all through our meal, making sure everything was fine and that our drinks stayed full. First time there and ordered the Breakfast Sandwich, Cheese Omelet with Bacon (since the did not have sausage in stock), and 2 cups of coffee. It took a little longer then I thought for the food to come but it was a little busy so I could over look that. There credit card machine was down and had been for few weeks but what I was told, so had to pay cash. Not a big deal but could be a deal breaker for some until it is fixed. The food was not bad but was a small amount for the price if you ask me. But the taste was real good, as if I fixed it myself at home. Sheryl was my waitress and I must say she is the best waitress any place could ask for. Very nice, made sure I had everything, Double checked to make sure everything was right before I walked out the door.
