I am a Colorado native and I have been getting pizza here for over 30 years since I was a kid. I have to say things have changed since Howdy was around. We purchased 2 large Howdy specials and damn it was pricey . 55 dollars with tax. The pizza had very little of their signature sauce and cheese. There were barely any toppings on it. Also their crust was huge because they barely covered much of the pizza with anything . What is the worst is the pizzas were tiny. The prices have gone up and the pizza have shrunk. No longer do you get what you pay for as you get a miniature pizza as a large at a high price. Complete shrinkflation! I feel like you get better bang for your buck by ordering pizza in Boulder and everyone knows it is pricey up there. Hell Cosmo pizzas extra large pizza is a little less then that, but at least you get a pizza that barely fits in the passenger seat. Lol. remember back in the day you would get a huge delicious pizza from Howdy. No more. I even measured it according their website and it was the size of a medium pizza and not a large . I called and spoke to the kitchen owner Carolyn and she said while it shrinks when cooked. While then why don't you put the correct size on your website ? This is just a deceptive practices and a bunch of lies. Other pizzas from big chains will actually have the pizza's cooked and be the size they displayed on their website. I don't know if Carolyn is family, but her deceitful practices are screwing this once iconic Colorado pizza place. People who are saying this pizza is great have no idea how honest and amazing it use to be. For 55 dollars you can get so much better elsewhere in this economy. I admit things are tough but she damn well conned me. I have to say we won't be going here anymore for their pizza. We traveled pretty far for that signature taste, but now you are overpriced, shady, bread restaurant. This is sad because Howdy was a great guy and had such a great sense of humor. I guess all good things eventually...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNow this place is you have time to take inventory pictures than you are not really enjoying it. This a really small pizza place with indoor and outdoor seating. But you really want to get there early if you are bringing more than 2-4 people. It is tight corners. The atmosphere kinda depends on what day you are going on. Because there are TV's going and if a game is planning it can get extremely loud and good and happy or upset. But I still go because the staff is incredible they are usually pretty good about taking of you. They can get a little distracted when there are a lot of people there. I am not sure but it has the feeling of being family owed. Now the Pizza and the other items. I have tasted everything and the portions are large too me which I like because I can take it home with. The pizza being there main event is the best I have ever had in my entire life. I have lived all over the United States I have tried New York Pizza and Chicago Pizza, the southern pizza to the upper north west and I can honestly this is so good. The sauce has a unique flavor that just explodes in mouth while the toppling are amazing and do not over play the flavors that could compete. I love šš this place and I drive at least an hour and a half to get there. The parking can be very tricky because it is I think on a semi residential street. There are other stores competing for parking so keep in mind that if you are coming with a large group try and minimize the amount of vehicles you use and also be prepared to have to wait a bit, and sometimes the wait for food seems to be a little long but remember everything they do is hand made from scratch. So it's like your grandma recipes. Anything good is worth waiting for. Enjoy this cozy little spot it's worth more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI took my daughters, husband, mom and stepdad here for my mom's birthday lunch. We wanted to go somewhere with a cool atmosphere and thought we would give this a try.
First, being a Colorado native, the Denver Broncos are a big deal. Our server was wearing a Kansas City Chiefs sweatshirt (the Broncos and Chiefs were playing that day). Granted not everyone has to like the Broncos, but still it didn't sit well with us.
We all ordered Pepsi's (except my daughters). Five minutes later we were told that the machine needed to be changed out. She came back another 5 minutes later and gave us our Pepsi and took our order. It was pretty simple. We all ordered cheeseburgers, well done. The 2 1/2 year old ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and the 1 month old didn't need anything.
We proceeded to wait for about 20-25 minutes. The server brought out 4 cheeseburger plates and asked, "Can I get you anything else?". My husband said," Yeah, my daughter's grilled cheese." The server said, "Oh yeah, let me go get that". We then had to wait another 7 minutes for the server to tell us that "there were so many fries to drop, they didn't get to the grilled cheese right away". The entree came about 5-7 minutes after that.
The burgers were way overcooked, the fries were terrible, the burgers buns were burned, and service was awful. Also, it was $60 for 4 adults and one child to eat.
We will not be returning to this establishment any time soon and would not recommend...
