After looking forward to visiting this establishment for quite some time, my husband and I were finally able to go. Due to a health condition that forces me to stay home the majority of the time, I was finally able to have a few hours away from my huge breathing machine and able to use my portable tank for 3 hours. Unfortunately, I chose to spend my rare respite travelling from Aurora to Acosta's because I had heard he was very knowledgeable about jewelry as well as having some nice things. I chose some of my better pieces and took them to see what he thought they were. Instead of having the conversation I have looked forward to I was treated like I was not worth his time, told multiple times that I should take my items to the "pawn shop" and basically treated like I would imagine one would treat someone who had kicked their dog or something. I have NEVER been treated so poorly in my life. He even claimed that my jewelry was nothing he could use. First, I wasn't planning to give him any of it, I simply wanted to know what he believed it could be. And just to let everyone know, I actually DID stop at the pawn shop when I left his place and learned that the jewelry he had no use for is likely as valuable as anything I saw in his place, and I am not the person he must have thought, I turned down a rather handsome offer from the "pawn shop" he referred to as an insult to me. At least I didn't leave there crying and not understanding why some mean old man had treated me so horribly and thinking he must have thought I had some contagious disease because of my oxygen tank. But I have instead since learned that he is a really bad person, and under alot of stress since having his bad deeds become public knowledge. All I can say is that he wouldn't have had to defend himself with me because I entered his store expecting to meet someone completely opposite of who I met and ended up finding out about my jewelry that he could have likely gotten a chance to own it one day when my oxygen stops doing the job. But anyway unless you have very thick skin and can hold ur tongue I would go to a pawn shop if you can. Ezpawn on Colfax and Sheridan is where I went after leaving his dump. Below is my jewelry he didn't...
Read moreI had a ring sized (down 2.5 sizes) at Acosta Jewelers and had a horrible experience. First off the man (don’t remember his name , elderly short fella) did say it wouldn’t be perfectly round, I was ok with that. But he did not tell me he was going to shave the width of the diameter of my ring and shave the thickness of my ring and loose one of the black diamond of my ring, and steal the gold that was shaved off of my ring, and the gold of the 2.5 sizes it was sized from my ring. This ring was the same width in diameter all around it, the thickness was parallel width and height and depth. It’s my fault for not addressing the circumstances the moment I picked it up, forgive me I was in a hurry to be some where else. In the same breath, what kind of business are you running. This man basically took advantage of me by taking as much gold as he possibly could off my ring, without it causing issues in its structure. And he told me, it would be out of circle so he doesn’t loose any of the diamonds. What does he do loose one of the black diamonds. I know this jewelry store has good reviews and that’s why I chose them. I don’t know maybe the fella was having a bad day, didn’t like the way I looked, or didn’t like me as person, I couldn’t tell ya. But I would not recommend this place. And I told him about a custom LV pendant I was looking to get made. He said he could do it, I’m glad I went elsewhere for that. I could imagine paying over $1,300 for something custom from him, would definitely regret it, from this point of view. Oh yea then he had the audacity to say he didn’t charge me enough, so I tipped him, to show that I was a good customer thinking he took care of me, foolish me. I guess live and learn and keep pushing forward. Thanks for tipping me off Acosta Jewelers, karma is real. What goes around comes...
Read moreI cannot begin to express my gratitude to Acosta Jewelers. The 5 star reviews are totally justified. I went to Acosta with 3 rings, 2 were simple fixes a resizing to my engagement ring and a quick mending to my wedding band. The 3rd ring; however, was a different story.
My little brother gave me a ring for my 18th birthday which happened to be just a few days before he died. To say that this ring has sentimental value doesn't really capture how much important it is to me. After 14 years of wearing this ring every day it was in bad shape. The onyx inset was severely chipped and two of the marcasite chips were missing. Luis restored the ring so well I had to choke back tears. He had to custom cut a new onyx inset and patiently remove the original. I had worried to my husband that this ring might be a total loss. and I am so relieved to have it restored to it's original condition.
The resized ring, mended ring, and custom ring repair ran me all of $60. A different jeweler quoted me $60 just to mend the band with crack in it.
Would highly and enthusiastically...
