The food is DELICIOUS and definitely authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. Unfortunately, it was the service and cleanliness that sadly ruined our experience and brought this down to two stars. Pros: -Authentic, delicious food -Pretty large menu to choose from Cons: -Food will come out whenever it’s ready, so the timing was off in terms of everyone getting their meal at the same time to enjoy together. Basically you have no idea when your other party member’s food will come so you should just eat yours when it arrives hot -Portions are kind of small -Not environmentally friendly. All of the plates, cups, utensils, containers for sauces, were single-use plastic, and they used paper to cover tables rather than wiping them down or cleaning them between use -Seemed pretty understaffed, which made service very slow -Could be cleaner (tables, bathrooms, even the plastic cups they gave us were not clean) We came here as a group of 4 without reservations and waited about 15 minutes for a table. After being seated, we took a look at the menu and eventually decided what we were getting. The menu is pretty extensive so there is a lot to choose from. We ended up getting Solkadi, puri bhaaji srikhand, Alu wadi, thalipeeth, pomfret platter, Kombdi wade, bhaakri, Malvani chicken, vada pav, and chicken Sukha. All of it was delicious! Our favs were the puri bhaaji srikhand, Alu wadi, pomfret platter, and kombdi wade. Unfortunately food came out sporadically and some of our dishes were cold by the time others got their food. So basically, you can’t count on eating at the same time and you just gotta roll with what comes out and when, unless you are ok with eating your food at room temperature. It seemed like they were very understaffed as it took 10-15 minutes just for them to bring us water, which was served in a plastic gallon bottle. Then our server forgot to bring cups, which we asked again for, but after waiting for another 10 minutes, one of us got up and asked for them at the counter. After sitting down, we noticed the plastic cups they gave us didn’t look very clean… When we went to order more food, our server was a bit annoyed, telling us “you need to give us your order at the same time when you’re all set”, but we actually weren’t done ordering, he had left us…so we didn’t get a chance to tell him the rest of our order. Lastly, the restaurant uses a TON of single-use plastics/paper items. Plates, cups, utensils, containers for sauces, paper napkins…even paper to cover the tables in between customers. I get that it’s cheap, and easier for clean up, but that’s a lot of waste accumulated on a day-to-day basis. Also getting reusable plates, silverware etc would also elevate the presentation of the dishes served and overall dining experience. In sum, the food is great but the experience is extremely disappointing. If you’re planning on going here, I’d recommend ordering the food to-go if you rather than dining in.

My friends were raving about this place and just wouldn’t stop talking about this telling me to give it a try and how this place served the best Indian (Maharashtrian & Konkan) food. I must confess, after trying some of their offerings, I’ve also joined that club now. YOU MUST GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY! Let me point out by saying that they serve one of the most authentic Indian styled fried fish. Their bombil fry is second to none. All of their fried fish have those authentic Indian flavor that is very hard to find in any Indian restaurant. We had ordered quite a few items to give this place a proper go. For appetizers we went with Gobi Manchurian - Indo Chinese style fried cauliflower fried with tangy, spicy and sweet sauce mixture . Here’s everything we had from the fried fish menu- bombil fry, pomfret fry, surmai fry - all the fish were smell free and fresh. For rice we went with Veg Schezwan Fried Rice - had a lot of flavor and was a little spicy. Finally, for curries we got a few namely chicken korma, Malvani chicken and paneer butter masala - the paneer and malvani chicken were good but the korma was a little bland given everything we had prior to this. The appetizers, fried fishes and the rice were fantastic. The curries were a little lacking and didn’t stand out. This restaurant has a small indoor dining and isn’t flashy with its decor. They sway you with their food. Given the current circumstances going on, indoor dining is closed so I had ordered takeout. The quantity of food is decent and the prices were very reasonable. If you are craving for some typical Maharashtrian/ Konkan food, then do give this place a try.

I was atlast able to taste food at Mejwaani. was planning for sometime now. There have been so many restaurants in the same place before (nala bheema, persis etc), and this one is better than most of the others before. i wish i could have given a 5 star, if not for a couple of things ... Positives: First of all, i ordered a thali.. food was really awesome.. 5/5 for the food definitely. thali seems to be less quantity, to begin with.. but when u finish, its actually perfect.. right quantities.. chicken keema was just outstanding.. never tasted such good kheemas before in Edison. curry was good.. nice and good flavor.. biryani was good too.. chapati was like the chapati we get in patels (ready made ones).. and to finish - kala jamun was just awesome.. 20$ for the thali wasnt bad. Service was good too. parking facilities are good. interiors are good, and lots of tables to sit and eat Negatives : They dont give you options to choose the starter or curry, in the thali..for eg - if someone doesnt like kheema, you can atleast order a chicken 65 or something . menu doesnt tell the starter you will get with the meal.. 2nd negative is - they charge extra for a chapati, or anything else. so, dont get fooled by them asking - do u guys want extra chapati. there is no mention in the menu about extras, and their costs. 2$ for one chapati was a waste for me. Overall it was a great experience with food. Food cost is ok.. just eat that, and dont order anything extra. its worth it..

ok, looks like they are also started showing the attitude when getting good customers response. waiter was so rude in talking when we visited last on Sunday 30-Jun. we are group of 4 and it was 6:00PM when nobody was there. we entered and asked if we can sit to corner side. that guy rudely said that that table is for 5 and if you want to sit there, you have to pay 18% service charge. if sit on other table, it will be 15%. i was amazed his response but opted other table. as this restaurants is BYOB, we brought a bottle with us. when we asked him to bring glasses, he again rudely told that there is a 90 mins limit if you drink here. i was amazed to see his tone as it was not first time visiting there. something is terribly not right with those ppls. Showing attitude is not going to work for long time as it was with me once, same would happen with other customers as well. hope they understand how to deal a customers otherwise they should be aware the history of that shop location. things can change at any time.

my response after seeing Owner comment: Thank you for acknowledging the incident. good that you have some policies you and your staff are stick on that. also Congrats for your server to be selected as "Employee of the Month" many time. i also like the way you as a owner of restaurant conveniently blame me fully for that incident. i still hope this was a stand-alone incident and have not happened with any other customers and also hope that it would not happen with any other customers in future. you need to know one thing that if i would have really felt bad, i had an option to exit out at very initial time. i just wanted to ignore your childish behavior and continue to spend some good with friends. just to FYI that there are many BYOB restaurant here in this area. i would say that your food quality is also not that exceptional which may give me a reason to tolerate your attitude and continue the dinner in your restaurant. that was not free of cost either. we might have spent more per head amount per table then any other table by that time.

Well as you also claimed that your restaurant is fine-dine but I am not sure how much you know any any other fine dine restaurant.

have you ever visited any other fine dine restaurant ? if yes, can you please let me know if you come to know at very initially when you go there :

which fine dine restaurant tells you that if you want to sit in any specific table, it will cost additional 18% service charge and whatever they are offering, will cost additional 15%. this information i came to know in very initial 30 second without saying anything.

if there any issue from any of the customer, which fine dine restaurant owner comes directly to customer and ask "you want to talk to me" instead of enquiring more abt the incident politely ? this is very very general courtesy. looks like rudeness comes from top to bottom here.

which fine dine restaurant tells you your table time ? if any customer abusing any of your so called policies, you are free to tell them by that time when they violate. this is very common logic.

you also need to understand that there are many other restaurants in this area. food quality are also almost similar everywhere.

if you still think you are right and talk to your customer the way you have shown with me, then good luck to...

First thing is that you must know what is malvani and kolhapuri food. It is an unique cuisine with special recipes. It is exclusively an aromatic food with main emphasize on spices and chilly powder. Some people have wrong idea, that is very spicy and pungent. You will like it.spices and chilly along with onions, ginger, garlic etc is first Cooked in oil , till the spiciness is lowered and aroma , flavour comes out. Mejwaani food does a good justice to this way of preparing their dishes. Tambda Rassa,( red curry) and Pandhara rassa ( white curry) are specialities of kolhapur. These are to combined with their Jowar bhakri( oil less roti). Both Rassa you can consume like soups. Caution: don't talk while you are sipping it.. Wada kombada is a speciality of konkan( malvani food). When you are here ask the owner, what's the best way to eat these. Generally wada and jowar bhakri are crushed in plate and Tambda rassa poured over it, then mixed and eaten like rice. Also you can ask how strong the food you prefer . Please go with empty stomach and hungry . Eat till you are full. Then only you will enjoy these recipes,The dish quantities are large, if you are dining, ask for combinations. Their Thali is superb. Stomach full for one person. Variety of fish recipes from Goa and Konkan are nice. Mutton Biryani is superb. The way the Mutton is cooked, soft and leaves the bones easily. Don't forget to order for " kharvas ". It's a desert preparation with special milk. " "Pooran Poli" is another desert ( sweet stuffed soft and luscious roti) speciality of maharashtra. Must order along with some desi ghee topping. The sales counter has superb maharshtrian packaged items. You can buy them and enjoy at home. They also have weekly Tiffin service as per your requirements. The owners are from konkan, owner madam personally is managing the kitchen and the owner boss is attending to all the diners personally, with all their special cuisine. The staff, servers are from konkan, Goan origin. That's what makes this place special and authentic .Owners, servers give you very much personalized attention and make your dining experience memorable. After all. The service makes the biggest difference, while adding to your food experience. The decor, ambience, service and the Uniqueness of the recipes served, will make you feel like visiting this place over and over again. Best wishes to the owners, staff and happy dining to all.Highly recommend Mejwaani,...
