Pakistani Cuisine: specializes in Pakistani cuisine, and I must say the experience was quite delightful. The flavors of the Pakistani dishes were rich and authentic, with the perfect balance of spices. The palak gosht was a standout, with tender, well-seasoned meat and fragrant spices that left me craving for more.
Chinese Cuisine: The same couldn’t be said for the newly opened Dragon Palace Chinese dishes on the menu. The Chinese food fell short of expectations with a heavy flavoring of soy sauce all I could taste was salt. While the chicken fried rice were a bit better I was expecting more the American styled Chinese (since they already have desi Chinese on their Tabaq menu) but that was not what I received. Ironically enough I can’t speak to the taste of their desi Chinese from the tabaq menu as I’ve not had the privilege to receive my food (from them not serving it on the day I went their to waiting over an our and half and still not receiving the food and canceling my food - bc by that time honestly I’m not even hungry any more)
In summary, if you’re looking for a taste of Pakistan, this restaurant is a definite must-visit. The Pakistani cuisine is a true delight for the taste buds. However, if you’re craving Chinese food, you might want to explore other options for a more satisfying and timely experience.
Wait staff: The wait staff at the restaurant are undoubtedly professional and courteous, making diners feel welcomed and valued. However, their excellent demeanor is unfortunately overshadowed by a noticeable lack of synchronization with the kitchen and management staff.
While their service approach is commendable, there appears to be a communication gap or inefficiency within the restaurant’s operations. The wait staff’s punctuality in taking orders is contrasted by a noticeable delay in food preparation and delivery. This disjointed coordination can lead to prolonged waiting times, disrupting the overall dining experience.
Time Management: The horrendous time management and a baffling mix-up in food delivery left me quite disappointed. The evening began with high hopes, but it quickly descended into chaos.
First and foremost, their time management was abysmal. While our orders were taken immediately, the food wasn’t received nearly as quickly. It felt as if the kitchen would cook one dish and then forget about the rest of the order until the waiter was asked to check in on it, then the next item would come out and it made for a frustrating dining experience.
To make matters worse, our naans were delivered before the main courses which was delivered before our appetizers. And of course the Chinese order that never made an appearance aside from the soup which also came after everything else after having to remind the waiter again. It was absolutely baffling. How can you serve naans before the main course and then expect diners to eat with cold naans? The timing was completely off, and it threw off the entire meal.
While I understand that hiccups can occur in the restaurant industry, the lack of communication and organization was truly disappointing. The staff seemed overwhelmed, and the experience left a sour taste in our mouths.
In conclusion, this restaurant’s horrible time management and the misorder of food delivery made for an unpleasant dining experience. The potential of good Pakistani food was overshadowed by...

The ambience of the restaurant is above average, it just feels as if we are sitting in a forest and having our meal. They should rather improve it by renovating into a traditional Pakistani interior to make the people feel like they are dining in their own country.
Service definitely needs to be worked upon. When entering the restaurant, there were two staff members in conversation with each other and none was even caring to ask about the number of people in order to assign the table, which was needed to be asked upon. Also, the restaurant failed to provide drinking water for a long time even after being seated. One elderly customer too complained about the slow service by the staff. The order did arrive after a good 30 mins, which is fine as they needed time to cook the meat to perfection! It was Mr.Ehsaan who did the serving duties of taking and bringing the order and he was courteous enough to let us know about any delays.
The food is the best part of their restaurant. Initially we started off ordering Lamb Chops and Butt karahi chicken. It was accompanied by Roghni Naan and Sesame Naan.
Lamb Chops: The flavor of lamb was out of this world, the meat cooked to perfection. It easily came off the bone as soon as I had a bite. The charred pieces of lamb too felt tasty enough. Lamb chops with Roghni Naan made it a deadly combination! I wish they had served mint chutney with this.. would have been even better!
Butt karahi (Chicken): Honestly, please order this if you are in a group. This dish is definitely one of their signature dishes and it was delicious too. The gravy did feel tangy as I tasted but didn't understand the other spices which were there but anyways.. I enjoyed it. For the first time in my life I enjoyed boned chicken. Must say these people do cook meat to perfection!
Roghni Naan: Always seen it in the YouTube food vlogs of Peshawar/Lahore and it fascinated me. The naan was soft to the core and fun to eat . It was so good that one can easily eat it without any accompaniment.
Sesame Naan: This dish was also fresh out of tandoor! Soft and crispy enough, it went great with the butt karahi chicken.
Chicken Biryani: I was expecting biryani to be great but probably had some really high expectations. They used the broken basmati rice for the biryani whereas the biryani lacked a bit of flavor. The meat pieces were in good quantity but had a lot of bones. Also, they didn't provide the raita. I hope they improve on this though!
Special mention to the chaas they had provided, it was delicious! But sadly they only provided one so we had to request them another one! Whereas we also had to ask them for extra onion and lemon for lamb chops. The restaurant should keep an eye on little things as such!
Overall a good place to try out the food, but service needs to be improved upon if they are to be...
Read moreAll new customers looking for a good Authentic Pakistani restaurant ? go to GULBURG BISTRO!!! Amazing food - Amazing customer service!
Let me start off with.. I usually DON'T leave a review, instead I talk to the Owner/Manager once I'm done with food. I do understand reviews leave bad/good effect on the restaurant. Me and my husband chose Tabaq out of so many restaurants solely on the reviews we saw here. And let me tell you we have wasted our time and money altogether! Since we drove 5+ hours just to enjoy food in NJ!
As soon as we enter the restaurant (only one side of seating was filled). Manager made us wait for good 15-20 mins stating once the booth will be empty we will be seated there (pretty much restaurant was empty).
WE DID WAIT.
while we were waiting I remembered my husband was in NJ for a meeting he brought food with him from Tabaq. I mentioned it to the manager and complained the food was not even close to what it suppose to be ( Beef Bihari, it was super dry, unchewable). while I was talking to him he just turned around and walked away mid conversation! My husband calm me down since we were tired and had a long drive.
My husband asked the manager it seemed gazillion times he is looking for Authentic chicken/goat Karahi and the manager kept telling him get the $44 Karahi (other one was only $15), we ended up getting the one manager suggested. plus we ordered gol guppay and fried fish.
While we waited for our food (usually we get salad/raita complementry in every restaurant we've been to), NONE here.
Finally the wait was over and food came, Karahi was NOT even close to Karahi itself, it seemed we have ordered something altogether! I will give a new name, YOGURT GOAT CURRY!! Fish was okay and gol guppy was I don't know what to say.
Once we were done, I again tried talking to the manager, telling him we ordered goat karahi, what we got was NOTHING like it, he said he doesn't know and wait he will go and bring someone from the kitchen. HE DID GO...AGAIN. this time I saw a lady from the kitchen giving us a nasty look (If looks could kill lol) looking straight at me. and yet again manager disappeared. while we were leaving he ignored us. It was right there and then I said I will leave a review and people should know what they will get here and what they should EXPECT!
Now my question is - Either people who eat here don't have any taste whatsoever OR they don't care!
There are good restaurants in NJ. NO ONE have to go through what we've been through. we had an amazing experience the next day at another restaurant, amazing food. ( let me know I will mention the restaurant's name), good customer service.
Before anyone will come at me, we own businesses too, and we know what is customer service!!
Food - bad Customer...
