Visiting Mithaas in Edison felt like we were transported back to India. The ambiance is typical of a laidback Indian restaurant, the diners were almost entirely Indian, and you could have an entire conversation with the staff in Hindi or Gujarati. The food was quite good, but if held to the high bar of an Indian restaurant back in India, i felt like it could have offered more. The chaat was average and the Chole in the Chole Bhature could have been more flavorful. Nonetheless, the Veg Seekh Kebab were quite tasty even if they didn't look or feel like a traditional Veg Seekh Kebabs, and the Aloo Paratha was also quite tasty. We ordered a Cappuccino to go and it was great (felt like a hybrid between a filter coffee and a Cappuccino). The servers were polite and courteous, even though the service was terribly slow (likely owing to how busy they were due to the long weekend). The one area where they really need to improve are the cleanliness and hygiene levels. The cutlery had visible water stains and serving trays looked dirty from prior orders. One of the bathrooms had a mop and a bucket full of filthy water. These things should not happen and negatively impact an otherwise positive dining experience. All said and done, there is a lot to like, but if and when i return, I'd like the cleanliness and hygiene levels to be better.

I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. This time we went after 6/7 months. Staff was totally different. The food we used to order, we ordered the same thing this time as well. It did not taste the same. It was missing so many ingredients and everything smelled like a old rag. For example, the“dahi batata puri” absolutely favorite appetizer. I didn’t even finish my first one. As you can see in the pic i posted, It was missing all the sauces. The yogurt used was not sweet at all. It had no flavor to it. My husband ordered a onion kulcha. They didn’t even serve that with anything my husband had to ask. The waiter we had was totally new. He did not know anything about any item on the menu. He didn’t come to check on us or ask us if we needed anything. Plus, he was the only one serving everyone in the restaurant. There was no one there to help him .Thats ok, he was new and learning, not a problem. But Mithaas use to be my number one restaurant, but I just did not get the same service and taste I used to go for. I felt like I just wasted my money and time there.

Title: A Hidden Gem for Authentic Indian Cuisine Review: Nestled behind the Joy Alukkas, this restaurant truly is a hidden gem worth discovering. As you take the stairs down, you enter a warm, inviting space that immediately promises a delightful dining experience. The setup is casual—you order at the counter, which adds to the cozy, laid-back vibe of the place. We decided to go for their special thali and paneer naan, and they did not disappoint. The thali was an excellent choice, offering a variety of flavors that perfectly balanced each other. But the highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the paneer naan—hands down the best we’ve had in the entire New England area. The naan was soft, buttery, and filled with perfectly seasoned paneer that melted in our mouths. It’s a must-try for anyone visiting. We also tried their rose milk and masala soda. While the rose milk didn’t quite hit the mark, the masala soda was refreshing and paired well with our meal. The prices are reasonable for the service provided .

Worst place ever! Employees are worst. Food worse. I would give it 0 stars because of employees. I visited this place on Friday (today) at 8:30 pm. There were 5-6 employees at the counter, talking and making lot of noise. No sense of customer service. We ordered pav bhaji with AMUL CHEESE and we were given one with mozzarella cheese. Photos attached. Pav bhaji was cold, not served hot. And we sat there for half hour with continuous employee noise of giggles and laughters but they won’t serve a big line of customers waiting. There was one mid- old aged, white hair employee in red tshirt serving to customers loyally and others were just talking. I don’t know why would you need 10 employees at one time when only one is working!!! FOR OWNER: Our order of chole bhature didn’t even arrive and we waited and canceled it because your employees were busy talking!!!!!!! I would really recommend Mithas at North Brunswick as it is really really good with delicious food and great customer service.

I'm sure other people have a good time and experience but this is simply mine...I didn't mind waiting the amount of time I did before my order was taken nor the 30 mins it took to get my food. Their presentation was very elegant. What I did mind was that I ordered no onions and yet when it finally came, the plate was ladened with onions. Second issue was it was SSOOO salty I couldn't eat half of it and what I did managed to eat I basically forced myself. I didn't want to send it back then wait another 30 mins so I ate what I could of the 2 items I ordered. Also to be noted, they have Jain (religious) options which omits onion and garlic; had this been brought to them it would have been disturbing. Makes me feel like some of these restaurants don't really take heed to their menu options. On the positive side their mango lassi are decent and the only thing that enjoyed. Hopefully others will continue to have a better experience.

I am really pissed today with new manager of restaurant. Since 1997 we eat in this restaurant and before Manager was such a good guy from Bombay very courteous. Such a bad experience I am so pissed . Everyday I order same club sandwich and don’t have problem but today I got my sandwich not toasted , no chutney , no vegetables , no curly fries . Called restaurant and spoke to some gentleman name kamal , he was so nice and said sorry and said we will send you new one with next order . After 5 min I got a call from him manager needs pics . I did send pics with details 5 pics and she started argument even she can see the pics that description and food send is not same . It’s so bad behavior. I am disabled person and now will go and show her the sandwich. It’s bloody $14 that is not even the issue , the issue is admitting mistake and saying sorry . Workers are more polite than the new manager . Shame .
