Poor service and Declining Quality of Food We visited Mithaas Edison end of June with our extended family mainly because the food here is known to be good and they have decent outdoor seating (critical in COVID situation when bringing elderly). We arrived right when the restaurant opened for lunch (11:30am on a weekday). We were the only ones in the restaurant. All the food arrived but one entree (a sandwich) which came one hour later. The food itself took 30 minutes. Everybody was done with their meal and then they provided the sandwich which was ordered by a child. Their reason for this was that somebody had placed a take out order for 20 sandwiches so they were working on that first!!! Unbelievable - no apology, no compensation, etc!! We made the mistake of visiting Mithaas again yesterday mainly because of the outdoor seating option - we live an hour away. We arrived at 5:30pm and it was not busy. We went to place our order inside and were told outdoor seating is closed even though a family was just seated. 90 percent of outdoor seating was vacant. Further, among, Moghul, and Singhas pizza places right next door had tons of customers sitting in their outdoor seating. I told the Mithaas guy I don’t need service so just give me the food and I’ll eat outside as I’m come from far away. They said outdoor seating is closed inspite of seating other people outside. We ordered take out after driving all that way and then they advanced all other orders that came after us but I was waiting for 35 minutes. I told them to be transparent with their rules on outdoor seating, be more fair on how they are handling orders, etc. Long story short the manager apologized but by that time the mood was impacted and the feeling of unfair treatment, lazy and uneducated people unable to treat customers with respect, and lastly a simple lack of humanity. We are still in COVID folks. If you have outdoor seating and a customer wants it you should not deny it. You look irresponsible when all surrounding restaurants are giving outdoor seating. Treat people with respect, fill orders in the order they come in, be transparent about your rules for outdoor seating, address the quality of your food as it is declining. Consider going back to a self-service restaurant as that worked best for you. Also do not charge double the costs from your menu. A bottle of water for example says $1 but you charge $2 and many more examples here. There are other Indian restaurants that have better quality and very transparent about not having waiter service and they are far better. Don’t be fooled by their outdoor seating option as they shut it down at any time they feel. The best way to address this is not to give your business to them. We will not be going back again.
