An architectural masterpiece in the heart of Edmond!
Designed by renowed architect J.G. Haskell, who also worked on the Kansas Sate Capitol and the Douglas County Courthouse, this is the oldest building of higher education in the state of Oklahoma!
This building being completed in 1893 predates statehood, and though it was scheduled for demolition in 1911, it was fortunately renovated instead, and in 1971 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places!
Safety issues continued to plague the building, and it was closed from 2001 to 2017 so that it could be renovated once again, and this time an ampitheater and elevators were added.
Now it’s reopened and remains a symbol of higher learning as an icon of one of the oldest universities in the great state...
Read moreWent to school here for a little while in the 90's. Absolutely love this building! It's so gorgeous! They had the best food and so many options in the cafeteria as well. I worked there at the time, too, on the grounds in maintenance and kitchen and even the print shop with a wonderful lady who helped me with swimmers ear! Lol the people were so nice! A great school.
