Current Update 11/1/22: I've been supporting Ted's since there was only one location at 58th and May. It has always been our go-to when we decide we want Mexican food. Usually, we get warm, friendly service and the food is delicious. They've always offered a generous portion and a fair price. Well folks, times are changing. Not only are they starting to fail with the new menu items they've been bragging about in their email marketing, but their staff and managers are becoming rude! When you no longer care about talking to the customers who have helped make you a success, your business will start to suffer.
We received an email from Ted's with this attention grabber: "Big things are happening at Ted's Café Escondido! We can't share anything quite yet, but we promise it'll be worth the wait." The email goes on to explain that new menu items are coming Oct. 31, 2022. Naturally we were excited so we went to our usual Ted's on Danforth in Edmond on the evening of the 31st.
One of the new items is the Fried Fish Tacos with cream slaw. I'd never tried their grilled fish tacos because I prefer fried so I ordered them. When they arrived the portion was laughably small. It almost looked like a kids meal. There were two large tortillas and each tortilla had a little, tiny piece of fried fish that I bet didn't weigh 2 ounces. The fish was so small on the first one I ate I only got a couple bites of fish. I asked the server if this was the normal size portion. I thought maybe they had made a mistake preparing my plate. She left to ask the manager and then came back and said "Yep, that's the correct portion size, that's just the way it is.". I was interested in hearing the managers reasoning for offering new menu items and making the portions so ridiculously small. I asked if the manager could come by and talk to us. She said "No, he doesn't think there's anything else that needs to be said." That's when you cross the line with me. If you are going to be rude, and not take the time to talk to a long time customer with a concern you can forget about getting anymore visits from us. The manager and the server should be ashamed of this type of behavior. We won't be returning. I'm attaching a picture of one of these fish tacos and you can decide for yourself if you think it's a fair sized portion for a $15 meal.
Original review: Good service, decent food for the price. Have always been treated well here. Warm and friendly staff.
Original Update: We have been going here often. The service we get when we sit at the bar is just the best. The food is always fresh and delicious. I am impressed the managers jump in and help out when they get really busy. I continue to be impressed with how smooth this operation runs. Definitely one of our favorite places to go in Edmond. Not a single bad experience and we...
Read moreFirst let me say the waitress was great. The food was the issue. I’ll start with the red sauce, very watered down. Relish mostly carrots in all of little serving bowls. I love the carrots but it’s a relish some onions and jalapeños, please. The atomic sauce, supposedly the hottest sauce you have, my two year old granddaughter was actually eating it. I asked our server and she admitted we weren’t the only ones commenting on it not being hot. Finally the cheese queso . Very thick and not much heat or nacho flavor, I had to mix the cheese with the red sauce to be able to save them from being wasted. One order of nachos actually had a cheese sauce poured on the chips under the grated cheese. He has ordered these nachos ever since this location opened up years ago he has never ordered any other dish. The dish was replaced but it was another disappointment, but the most disheartening event was the fajitas. I had actually stopped ordering your fajitas just because of this reason. The last two times my wife and I ordered beef fajitas they were barely hot. And true to my advise against him ordering them they were served warm. As soon as served he actually barehanded picked up the skillet by the handle and moved it to the other side of his plate. What happened to your delicious sizzling fajitas ? You might as well serve them on a plate and call it hot meat and onions. The tortillas were as usual outstanding as was the sopapillas, and as previously mentioned the server was excellent and handled each Issue as well as could be expected. We will probably be back at some point, but you can’t keep customers with...
Read moreTed's is a great Tex-Mex restaurant to take your family. The Edmond location on Danforth is pretty busy most of the time. They have ample parking and plenty of parking for to-go or curbside orders. Once you arrive for dine in service they ask for your cell number and when your table is ready you receive a text. This is a huge improvement from having to listen for your name to be called. The wait, even though they were busy, was only 10 min for lunch. Although there was space in between tables, the area to walk through was tight and we didn't quite feel comfortable with people walking by so close to our table. It felt cramped. Our waitress quickly took our drink order and chips/salsa/cheese arrived as well. They also gave us the vegetables, some atomic salsa and flour tortillas. The tortillas seemed thicker than they used to be but hey, I hadn't been there in over a year so I could be wrong. Our food arrived within 10-15 min of placing our order. I had a salad with fajita chicken. I kid you not, there was so much chicken I literally couldn't eat it all. It was cut into bite size pieces, another huge win for me. They don't offer Diet Dr Pepper which was a let down for my mom, but refills were always quick. Our waitress was very efficient. Also you pay at the table with a device on your table (that is also preloaded with games for children). You receive a receipt from the device as well. Overall it was a great experience for all...
