DINNER AND A SHOW!
When you first walk in, you might think "I've coming to the wrong place," but just grab a seat, (preferably one with a wide view)grab a plate and watch the talent trickle in. We came at about noon on a Sunday. At the salad bar, you will have some decent choices because let's face it, that's not what people are here for. Though, you might need to watch the bac'o'bits, cheese and ranch dressing. Those tend to become scarce. Be careful of the stairs because even though you might think it's a two way like it normally would be, it's not. Be prepared to stop mid step to move out of the way of the hungry patrons bulldozing their way to either the piping hot pie they just saw come out or making their way back to their table because it just can't wait for common courtesy. Or to even look up from their plate. Also, don't forget to move from the railings because they WILL be in use. Young and old, all are welcome. But if you are one of those, let's hope you can move fast enough to get to the line when the pizza comes out because those babies run out faster than the oversized hearts that are swallowing them down. Let us talk about buffet ettiquett. Once you get a glimpse of the hot dish of whatever coming out, make haste for it is every man for himself. And if the person in front of you is taking too darn long scooping their slice, feel free to gently remind them that you too are starving by standing uncomfortably close to them to where you are basically leaning on their arm. I guess what I'm saying is move quickly and keep your elbows tucked. Shall we move on to the next entrée? Well good luck because there is no civilized system, the other patrons will just swoop in, out of no where, and take the last three pieces your hand was just reaching for. Be aware of the "little" ones toddling about with their plates piled high. They are frequent flyers around the line and won't mind if you are in their way, they won't slow down. So once you get your salad and slice, sit back, have some pizza and...
Read moreFamily requested "The Hunk" for a get-together telling me how good it was. When they got here we called to order & was told "no delivery drivers today". This was fine, I ordered it & drove over to get it. (just a few minutes away) Everyone was ready when I got back & started eating. My daughter asked what I'd ordered as it wasn't what they'd had before. I called Pantera's & they told me they could make another pizza or send me a coupon but it might take a month to get to me. I told them to mail it as everyone was already gone. I finally received the coupon & decided to use it Tueday. On my way home I called in the order & told them I had a coupon for a free Hunk. The person was not very "friendly " & let me know I'd have to have a Mgr signed coupon or pay $$$. I gave her my name & when I got there pick up the pizza I placed the coupon on the counter & told the girl my name. She walked away saying someone else would help me. The next girl asked to help, I said I was picking up a Hunk, & she asked "with everything? "as she started typing it into the computer. As I said it should be ready the first girl came back & pushed her aside, cleared the computer, walked back in the kitchen to get my pizza & dropped it in front of me as she walked off. I asked if that was all & the 2nd girl asked if I'd like my receipt. I hate to say after all this! THE SECOND ONE WAS WORSE THAN THE FIRST!! I WILL NOT BE ORDERING FROM EDWARDSVILLE...
Read moreIt’s has been over some 30 years ago that I got pizza from Pantera’s. We used to go to the one in Fairview Heights with my parents when I was young, but it closed. Today, I was in the Glen Carbon/Edwardsville area and thought I should get a pizza from here and take it back home, to give my family a special treat. I got there before the lunch buffet rush and ordered my pizza, their best pizza. The gal at the counter says it will at the most 20 minutes, maybe even sooner as there is not a lot of people here. Well, it took over 45 minutes to get my pizza, and the same gal says to me…..”I am sorry.” Not sure what happened on her end, but I do know it doesn’t take 45 min to get a pizza. Well anyway, I took the pizza home, and it was fabulous! Just like it was over 30 years ago. We enjoyed it! Next time I go, I think I will order in and it shouldn’t take 45 min to...
