I got the Boneless Soy garlic chicken and enjoyed it. The chicken is tender and juicy with a light crunch on the outside, and the sauces are very flavorful. I also tried the Gangjeong, Secret Sauce, and Galbi boneless chicken. Of which I would rank Secret Sauce, Gangjeong, Soy Garlic, Galbi in that order, but would also enjoy either flavor on it's own. I believe all chicken items on the menu come with pickled white radish cubes, which is a standard for Korean fried chicken. From my experience, Korean fried chicken usually has intense flavors and decadent sauces / sprinklings which can become overwhelming if you eat too much. I didn't experience that here, with the medium portion Soy Garlic boneless chicken, but just an fyi. I suspect the Cheesling might be that way for some, but I didn't personally try it.
I also had the Rose Ddeok bokki (cylindrical rice cakes with thin fish cakes) which came with a boiled egg on top, and a bit of cabbage. The soup of the Ddeok bokki was my favorite part of the entire meal, it had a nice smell and taste, and i'd even try Rose sauce flavored chicken if they had that on the menu. On the otherhand i'm used to rice cakes having the soup soaked in deeper towards the center. When biting into the rice cake the flavor quickly falls off and you're left chewing a sauce-less rice cake for some time. I would also caution that the ddeok bokki is a potential choking hazard as the rice cakes are very sticky and thick, which might be a result of the soup not being deeper in the rice, leaving it less tender. Myself and my friend both had a laugh over almost choking on the rice cakes. I would like it if the ddeok bokki had a more even fish cake to rice cake ratio.
tldr: The boneless chicken is good. The soup of the Rose ddeok bokki is nice, but needs more fish cakes, and the rice cakes may need to steep longer in the soup. Overall I would come back to try the other chicken flavors. I want to try the chicken...
Read moreThis would be a five star review if only based on the food. The chicken is amazing and so flavorful! The breading is so light and crispy and the sauces are delicious. We went for an early dinner, around 3pm, so it wasn’t too busy. We got two of the large boneless wing options so we could try several flavors. We got the secret sauce, honey garlic, Gangnam style, and spicy galbi. They were all unique and incredibly tasty! There were two servers and unfortunately, we got the inattentive one. While we got drinks fairly quickly, we waited quite a while before she came back to ask for our order. The food came out fairly quickly and was so fresh. We waited once again for her to come out and refill our waters, despite being the only table she was serving. I had been out of water for several minutes and had been about to finish my husband’s when she came to refill them. When it came time to pay, we waited about fifteen to twenty minutes while trying to get her attention. In that time, she came and dropped off to go boxes but did not ask if we wanted the check, nor did she stop long enough for us to ask for it. We were unable to get her attention due to the fact that she did not leave the counter except to come to our table and also did not acknowledge us or look our way. I will be returning for the food next time I’m in El Paso and hope that the service matches the food...
Read moreJust tried Bb.q chicken El Paso for the first time and was very impressed! I’ve gone to a couple different locations out in California so I knew I liked their food, but this specific location is on their A game!
Service was awesome. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. She came to check up on us at the right times and was quick to get any requests we had.
As for the food, Everything was super fresh! The chicken was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of crunch to the exterior. It was nice and juicy as well. They added the right amount of seasoning and sauce so that it wasn’t overpowered. My husband ordered the Cheesling and I got the Honey Garlic. Both of us opted for the boneless options. Medium was the right size for us.
For sides we both for the sweet potato fries. I’d definitely say one is enough for two people to share. Our waitress told us it was a one person serving but my husband and I could have done with one order in all honesty. I also got an extra side of pickled radishes to go, they’re so tasty and the perfect pairing with the chicken.
Overall I’d say this place is at the top of all the bb.q locations I’ve tried. Service is top notch and the food is fresh and made perfectly. Highly suggest trying out bb.q El Paso if you’re looking for a chicken spot...
