I am a lover of baked good and ALWAYS try to support small businesses. I always try hard not to give bad reviews but this time I have to say something because it could be a health hazard. Walking in, there was a âwet floor signâ right at the entrance that we had to walk around. The lights looked dark and gloomy. My kids wanted macarons and I was informed about the prices. 2.50 per macaron. I asked if they sold them by the dozen and the clerk said no. My sons were being indecisive on the flavors and the person looked very annoyed. I apologized and she ignored me. This place was completely dead so Iâm not sure why she was upset. We got 8 macarons, one cream puff and one cannoli. Total was about 27 dollars. As soon as I get to my car I saw something was off about the cream puff. There was MOLD on the top of it. I went inside and asked if I could get a different one and when she brought them out I saw ALL of them had mold.
I asked if I could just have something else and got a pumpkin tart. Just now, Iâm getting home and I took out my cannoli only to realize it also has mold on the top.
I am saddened to say Iâll never visit this bakery again. I wasted almost 30 dollars for inedible pastries. Unfortunately I didnât get a pic of the cream puff because I went right back in, but Iâll post pictures of the cannoli. The black spots are definitely mold as I looked at it sideways and I can see the...
Read moreIf you're new to El Paso, I'm afraid to give you the bad news that almost none of the bakeries here are good and frankly are mediocre at best (El Paso has absolutely fire Hispanic cuisine but for some reason, has so many disappointing bakeries). If you want a decent bakery, I'd say Bella Cora is your best shot in this entire area (I tried eating at different local bakeries here only to be met with disappointment at just how awful or mediocre the quality of their pastries turn out). The sourdough bread here is the best in the entire area, especially their jalapeño-peanut sourdough (fair warning that they only serve sourdough on certain days). As for the other pastries like the creampuffs, they are alright although I was very confused as to why their almond croissants don't have a nice layer of almond cream in them like the NY patisseries do (at best, it's just a croissant with sugar and almonds on it - not a proper almond croissant that has rich, nicely layered almond cream inside). The service was decent here, and if you're looking for some good bread in El Paso, I...
Read moreI used to visit Bella Cora quite frequently and it has been one of our favorite delicious treats for the family. Since I was in the area yesterday, I decided to stop by at the Joe Battle location. I noticed that alot of the pastries looked like they been sitting in the cooler for awhile. They were cracked and dried out. The cheesecake was delicious, I got one pistachio(the nuts were soggy), and three fruit cheesecakes that my kids enjoyed. I am very careful in choosing my pastries because my kids have different nut allergies(my concern are peanuts)As I asked the young man who helped me he was not knowledgeable about the ingredients( very nice) and that could be very dangerous to other people with allergies. I believe it is not his fault, so I chose what I know and went about my day. I saved my lemon bar for today and got an awful taste or âold eggâ, the top was cracked which I did not notice yesterday and the crumble was...
