I’m really trying to love this place but so far it’s been an effort! I’ve read every review and for the life of me I’m just not getting it. I’ve been twice and both times I came away feeling disappointed. My impression of the location is great! Clean facility and very friendly staff. Easy to find with abundant parking. The customers seemed to be regulars and very nice people. Always a good sign. I ordered pulehu ribs, spam musubi and a sweet rice dessert that reminded me of mochi. The ribs were incredibly chewy! I didn’t get beyond the first bite. Musubi is always a treat for me so no surprise there. I wasn’t a fan of the macaroni salad. The pasta was either overcooked or over saturated with dressing because the salad was soggy. My redemption visit wasn’t as disappointing but still a letdown. I ordered the chicken katsu, loco moco and pulehu ribs….again. The katsu was crisp, tender and juicy but it tasted like it was fried in old grease. The rice was not fully cooked and had a bit of a bite. So much so that you could see the white spot in the middle of the grain. The macaroni salad is still not hitting the mark for me. Loco moco was moist and delicious and the gravy was good but so little was drizzled over it and the crunchy rice just ruined it, not to mention the overcooked egg. This time the ribs stole the show!! They were perfectly seasoned and grilled! I asked for medium and that’s exactly what I got. Again the sides were so disappointing that I tossed them. I’m not ready to throw in the towel just yet. Maybe the chef was off his game or whoever does the prep work was having a bad day…in any case they get one more strike. I’m not exactly sure when because there are so many other options and I’m not wild about paying good money for mediocre quality. To...

Wow I was just told by the daughter of the cook here at Da Real Aloha that loyal customers, like myself who has been coming here since they first opened up and eat two to three times a week at this restaurant that I don’t matter to them! They don’t care for customers who make phone orders togo! Im sorry that I don’t want to sit at your restaurant and eat there I would like to take it home and I’m sorry i’m a burden to you!!! Phone orders are a burden to them to go. Orders are a burden to them. Sorry you’re short staff. So Sorry that you don’t wanna hire someone else to help on days you’re so busy to help fulfill orders so you phone order loyal customers don’t suffer. Sorry that you don’t have a good phone order system in place and I’m sorry that you don’t value your phone order to go customers, I stayed away for about six months and now that I came back to eat here again I see things haven’t changed. I’m also so sorry that you don’t value my $40-$60 dollars that I spend a week on your restaurant on Togo orders!!!! I get it to go orders phone order customers are not a priority we are a burden ā˜¹ļø hopefully this changes in the future and you begin to care and value us your Togo phone orders...

This review is not focused on just the delicious food served here, but also the utmost caring and thoughtful service provided by everyone I have ever interacted with at this establishment!

Da Real Aloha BBQ has easily become one of my go to lunch spots and the other day I stopped by to pick up a delicious plate lunch. After picking up my food I went about my day and returned home. Come to find out, the restaurant had retrieved my wallet that I had left behind and was able to track down a number that I could be reached at. Relieved that someone had not only found my wallet, I was then told the owner would be on his way to deliver the wallet to my home. The wallet was safely returned with everything still inside and I could not thank the owner enough for returning my wallet. I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to the entire establishment for not only providing me with a delicious lunch spot but also by hand delivering my wallet to ensure it was returned to me.

I cannot recommend this place enough! Please check out this place if you’re ever in the mood for great service, great food, and overall...

I tried a new restaurant on the far east side of El Paso today. It’s called Da Real Aloha BBQ. I walked in and I was welcomed by the staff. I took a look at the menu and it’s a small menu, but the food was delicious. I ordered the char siu chicken(mini). It was the smallest plate on the menu, but it was still a lot of food. I had to take it home. I also ordered a Dr Pepper it was separate. The chicken was good, but a little sweet. I wanted to order the chicken katsu, but it was going to be a 25 minute wait. My mom ordered the spicy wicked katsu chicken. That dish was delicious, but it wasn’t spicy it had a good kick to it. The rice was delicious and the potato and macaroni salad(mixed). Wasn’t good at first, but after a few bites it was starting to taste good. Overall, I will come back especially for the spicy wicked katsu.

I was thrilled to try the cuisine at Da Real Aloha BBQ because I was stationed in Hawaii, over ten years ago, and missed the food! I ordered the spam musubi and the beef curry and had my order delivered. This was my first time trying the spam musubi, and it wasn't that bad! The spam and the sticky rice were very good, but I didn't care for the seaweed wrapped around it (too fishy tasting). The beef curry had a great flavor and just a hint of spice to top it off! I am not a macaroni salad fan, but it tasted pretty good as well. I had the mini size portion, and with the addition of the rice and macaroni salad, I didn't finish all of the food in one sitting. I will say that this restaurant does give generous portions, and you will have leftovers!

Da Real Aloha BBQ, thank you for the Ono food. Born and raised in Hawaii, now living in Texas for 5 years it's hard to find Hawaiian grinds that hit the spot. This place made me tear up a bit as I ate my chicken katsu curry. I literally had tears. For a brief moment, I felt like I was back home. A place that van have that effect on someone is definitely special. I also tried the Lau Lau. I enjoyed it and I bought some frozen so I can take home to my husband in Houston. The mac salad taste like back home too. Mahalo to the chef, workers and ohana that established this restaurant. PS ... portion size is just like home too. The mini will be like a regular plate size.
