KFC — Restaurant in El Paso

I went into this location with my family just yesterday, 12/07/24, at 5:15 pm We ordered through the app so that we could just pick up and eat as soon as we got there. We were in the area, so we went in and waited. My children were very hungry and cranky. At 5:20, the app showed that my order was ready. We sat there waiting for it. The lobby was empty when we got there. If anything, 1 or 2 other people who had ordered before us. 5:30 rolled around, and still no food. No one was at the counter taking orders. People began to trickle in, and everyone just waited around no one acknowledged the customers. My kids started screaming new customer as they walked through the doors, and yet no one batted an eye. Horrible service. I had to constantly ask for the status of my food. Our food finally made it out at 5:45. We sat right in front and had a view of the staff. 2 were working hard, and the others were standing around. There was one guy who took his hat off and scratched his head for a full minute, put his hat back on, and continued to stand around and walk around, not doing anything. He never washed his hands after that. I hope he's not someone who's touching the food. Another man stood there in the back near the storage room or freezer door, eating out of a kfc container and carrying on a conversation with the guy scratching his head. I wish that a better chicken place was open at the time, I went there through the drive-thru, noticed that there were two new items on their menu, decided to try them both, Korean BBQ Chicken Nuggets and Apple Pie Poppers, I also ordered my regular combo #13 classic chicken sandwich with no pickles, I ordered sweet tea for the drink, but when I got it, I tasted it, as I always do, and it was terrible, it didn't taste like sweet tea at all, so I asked to exchange it for lemonade, the cashier or drive-thru worker was very rude, and said "I guess sir" after looking at me for a second, very bad experience with that cashier/drive-thru worker, I got home, tried the Korean BBQ Chicken Nuggets first, and was appalled at the sauce to chicken ratio, absolutely insulting, 25% to 75% is the ratio I saw, photos will be added, I did enjoy the apple pie poppers, however, the classic chicken sandwich, I did ask for no pickles but I tried to ask for maybe some lettuce, or some tomatoes, and they said they didn't do that, KFC needs to get with the times, lettuce and tomatoes are not expensive, at all, and it would probably be a good business opportunity to add lettuce and tomatoes to a sandwich for a up-charge, example, deluxe, from McDonald's. My husband and I each purchased the new waffle combo box as a breakfast date option since KFC opens at 10AM. We tried 4 different sauces. I disliked the comeback sauce and the buffalo ranch. Both mostly tasted of mayonnaise. The sticky chicky is a sweet and sour similar to the one from La Choy brand. It complimented the chicken tenders perfectly, but since it came with a side, I decided to dip my chicken and my waffle into the gravy - Best decision ever! I totally recommend gravy, especially with the waffle. It gives a unique experience that you can't get from other restaurants (I'm looking at you, IHOP, but no shade, you're still the OG chicken and waffle joint for me, especially with syrup and honey mustard dressing). Food is excellent, freshly made, and the service was impeccable. The food was prepared promptly, and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Alex answered all my questions about the sauces and was very quick to help us with our order. The staff were even kind enough to give me an extra side of gravy for my combo box. I recommend this place for casual dates and hungry families. Plus, the exclusive flavor of Mountain Dew called 'Sweet Lightning' boasts a robust peach flavor and is strongly reminiscent of southern style peach tea if it had carbonation (and was made by Mountain Dew).
