La Coa by Good Coffee, what a genuine name for this great contemporary cantina mixed with rich Mexican American border influences, that is only found north of our sister city of Juarez, Mexico. First time I stopped by was on Friday, December 30th, 2022 around 2pm and was amazed at the facade as well as the inside, awed by such unique concept! As soon as you walk in, you are welcomed by the host in turn, quickly attentive to serve you as a guest. Felt that warm welcoming as if you were their own "familia." I ordered the beef soup "caldo de rez" large cup to go, and to my surprise, it took less than three minutes that I had my to-go-bag ready. Amazingly handed out promptly, even though there were other orders in front of mine. Today, Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, once again, I had to come back and get more delicious "caldo de rez" to keep warm from the outside weather, and just felt that it was the perfect time to take advantage of. Walked in around 5:45pm and was greeted with that warm welcoming once again by the hostess. Promptly was attended and the ordered food was served in less than three minutes once more. I had to have dessert in this occasion, and the piña empanadas were just so tempting to not have along. Once inside waiting, the inside layout is very cozy and welcoming. Spacious dining area and cantina booth with eye catching artwork inside depicting the concept of Agave plants found throughout as if they were tattooed in the counter area. Very beautiful layout and at the end wall there is the "Coa", or the "wood spoon" or tool used to open the agave plant with. Inside the colors on the walls are truly amazing alongside the other art displays, representing a modern cantina with that family "cocina" vibe. Above all it truly represents a unique and housewarming place, with fresh delicious food, and the taste of the "caldo de rez" reminiscent to the one that you would find at your Abuelita's or mom's house. Highly recommended, great job to the owners, kitchen staff, hosts, waiters/ress and most importantly let's support...
Read moreGreat place for Mexican food! They have plenty of parking, seating, a covered patio, clean restrooms, live music on Fridays, and a bar has tv’s. The bar also had liquor, beer with both bottle & draft, wine & cocktails. Oh and the staff is extremely friendly & bilingual.
The food here is delicious, along with the green and read salsa. Portions are large and you definitely get your moneys worth. I’m a repeat customer and so far I’ve had the Menudo with a side pata which is epic! I’ve also had the gorditas, tacos, chilaquiles, steak arrachera, enchiladas and the Tampiquena steak, huevos rancheros, chicken soup, The Arrachera steak is excellent and flavored perfectly. All the other items I mentioned are fantastic and will definitely keep you coming back for more.
They also have daily lunch specials, options for the month of lent, live music on Fridays, the staff is attentive, and you can make reservations for large parties. Also don’t worry about parking there’s plenty, the restaurant is handicapped accessible for wheelchairs etc. And there’s lighting at night time.
Lastly this Restaraunt is in a great location for before or after entertainment. You’re literally 5 minutes away from Downtown, the El Paso chihuahuas & locomotives, the Plaza, Abraham Chavez, 3 minutes from the hospitals, 2 minutes from UTEP, the Sun Bowl, and Don Haskins, & days of tailgating. You’re also right by the Alamo movie theater, Hope and Anchor, Hoppy Monk, the district, angry owl, Cincinnati, and other entertainment areas. Definitely...
Read moreExcellent service and food win win! The Restaraunt is very nice, very clean, they have a patio and it looks exciting and modern. They just opened recently but the staff greets you quickly and is very friendly. There is a full bar with TV’s, and alcoholic beverages, bottled and draft beer, along with sodas, & delicious cocktails.
They have live music and there is plenty of seating throughout the restaurant. There are tables with chairs, as well as booths, and the restrooms are nice, and clean.
The food here is excellent and comes out quickly. Literally it tastes like they have an old Mexican Grandmother cooking in the back with her all her delicious Mexican recipes. I’ve been here 3 times already. The steak arrechera is amazing, the Menudo with extra pata is mouth watering, the Mexican omelette is the bomb, and the chicken plate is cooked perfectly and served with a side of deliciousness!
We also had some cocktails and they did not disappoint. They make just about everything here, and they also have some of their own concoctions. The restaurant is not to loud, and the environment is very fun, and friendly.
I highly recommend this new addition on the Westside. As I mentioned I’ve been there 3 times already, and I can’t wait to go back. They have a ton of parking in the rear, and it is well lit in the evenings, and night. Definitely a must try, love that that have live music and...
