La Malinche — Restaurant in El Paso

This place keeps going down, we started going there 20 years ago and it is not the same place it used to. Service is nice. Know let's talk about food Terrible, a Mexican restaurant with no lemonade nor orchata waters?, We had three stake rancheros, and the food was cool and with lots of salt. Coffee was cold, my mother's stake mix had a big black hair, we called the waitress and she was disgusting upon looking at the hair. Coffee was cold. She took the food to the kitchen, and supposedly, they re did the plate, I strongly believe it was the same. The restaurant was very dirty, and all silverwar, cups, and plates were DIRTY. ONCE WE PROCEED TO PAY, WE TOLD THE OWNER ABOUT THE HAIR IN MY MOTHERS DISH, HER ANSWER WAS. " IT HAPPENS ITS A VERY COMMON THING," SHE didn't mind. She told us, "Did they take the plate? The cook uses hair nets, and she reacted very negatively. They just lost our business. We will never go there again. We usually go to los Jarones restaurant, but it was very packed and a waiting line, and we made the mistake of ending in LA Malinche. If you like hair, cucarachas, cold coffee and bad food, you will be delighted in...

Delicious food. My favorite is their huevos rancheros but I havent had a dish here that I didn't like. Great service by waitress, food was prepared & brought out fast, food was excellent, but a little disappointed with the service from the lady at the register. She seemed to have gotten bothered by my request to add a tip (since I was paying DEBIT with a DEBIT CARD) especially when I asked her to close my bill at exactly $15 (I like to round up my bills and my food totaled $11.53 on this visit). She seemed upset that I didn't do the math for her & that she had to do some basic math on a piece of paper.

Long story short. She ended up charging me $16.63 and when I asked her why she charged me this amount vs the $15 as I instructed she simply stated in a sarcastic voice (in Spanish), "there is a surcharge to use credit cards here...." I should've argued it down to the amount I was willing to pay but decided not to for some reason.

MORAL OF THIS POST: make sure you pay in cash if you plan to eat here or make sure you look at your receipt if you choose to pay with plastic because apparently this lady will charge you whatever she thinks...

TALK TO THE HAND! Customer service here leaves a lot to be desired. So I call at 11am to place an order for Caldo and the person taking my order says it wont be ready for 30 minutes. I agree and place the order. I show up at 11:40 to pick up my order (40 minutes later). The lady in front tells me, "there is no caldo." I explain what I was told and she says to wait while she checks. I then notice her running around the restaurant and not updating me. 10 minutes later as she walks by I try to get her attention and say "ma-am". She immediately puts up her hand to wait and walks off again. As she comes back out I ask her, "is the caldo ready or not?" She replies No and walks off. I tell her to cancel my order and walk out.

I don't mind a simple miscommunication but I can't handle being treated as if I'm bothering them. Simple communication would have been enough. I won't be giving them anymore of my money...
