We came in around 1 or 2 with a party of 12-15 or so. The restaurant exterior appears old and run down. I didn’t have high expectations based on that. Interior was decorated with a plethora of western wares. We were seated in a side room which consisted of folding tables with a covering. Very outdoor picnic style. I would imagine they had normal tables elsewhere, but this room was likely for the larger tables. The menu isn’t complicated. I got the 3-meat combo for around $20. I got the sausage, lean brisket, and fatty brisket. Rolls were provided, but I’m not sure if they were fresh baked rolls, or store bought. So, not very impressive. The sausage was tremendous. The brisket missed the mark slightly, but I’m picky about brisket. The lean had a great flavor, but was dry. The fatty was much more juicy for obvious reasons, but was sort of bland. The BBQ sauce was pretty good, but they only provide a small cup. I would have preferred more sauce. Staff was friendly and accommodating, but didn’t come around very frequently, or I would have been able to ask for more sauce. I’d probably go back, but I’d probably skip getting both briskets, and try something else. It was good, not great. I’d probably also considering trying a different BBQ place in the area too, but I’d come back here if it was where everyone else wanted to go.

State Line is a carnivores delight!! (They have vegetarian choices too) Walking into the HUGE outdoor patio has the look and feel of the cantinas from old western movies. Upon entering the building, the motif changes from cantina.Old cantina. The bar is the first thing you see upon entering the building, and it is a piece of artwork and architecture. The dining room is large and spacious, decorated with furniture and antiques from another era. The hostess was gracious and polite. The server for my table was Bradley. He did a great job and was very attentive to any request and very polite. I ordered the 3 meat combo. Choosing lean brisket, peppered turkey and pulled pork. The meals are served with three sides. Coleslaw potato salad and barbecue beans, all of which were very tasty. The meets were Well prepared i'm very flavorful. They are served with their own barbecue sauce, which is tangy and spicy and absolutely worth a try. A particular highlight to the meal. Was the house baked bread. It is served warm in generous slices. Make sure you ask for this delight. I finished my meal with a Delicious piece of peach cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream. I do recommend you save space for the cobbler.

We returned to 915 and it had been a while since we had EP BBQ which is different than North Dallas BBQ. The 3 monkies were left with grandma and the parents went to the State Line. The State Line is located on the border of Texas and New Mexico. There is plenty of parking in the front of the building and the dinning area is big. We arrived early in the day and it was empty which allowed this fat guy to order the all you can eat plate with 6 meats. The wife kept it conservative and ordered the BBQ sandwich. Before the meal, warm bread was brought to the table and that started my weight to go up quick. It was good. Our server brought me the sides, beans, slaw, and potatoe salad. Then the animal farm arrived. The beef ribs were on point with the BBQ sauce adding an extra something to it. The turkey was dry and brisket had enough fat to have flavor. OHHH my, did I need a crane to get out? Yet, I felt a pain in my chest, not because of all the animal flesh I ate, or because I got fatter, it was the bill. If we would have brought the boys my credit card would have been declined. The total for 2 was $66 plus tip. Look if you're in El Paso you need to stop there to eat its a must.

This was my first experience eating at State Line and I was a little disappointed. Not sure what happened. The service and our waitress were amazing! The atmosphere was beautiful! It truly is a gorgeous restaurant! Unfortunately, however, the food did not live up to the expectation. We were a large group celebrating my father's birthday and we wanted to try something special and that usually means costly, which it was, but for what we paid for we expected much better. I ordered the three meat platter which included marbled brisket, pulled pork, and sausage along with the sides of course. When I received my food I noticed the brisket looked very odd. I have eaten at many barbecue places and have never seen brisket that color before. They claim it was smoked but it had no smoke ring and more than that it was a very pale almost white looking color. I thought maybe they had given me turkey instead by mistake so I asked the waitress but she confirmed that it was smoked marbled brisket. It was kind of bland and very tough to eat, very chewy. There was no smokey flavor to any of the meats. They lacked that renowned barbecue flavor that everyone expects but the brisket was the best of the worst. I set it aside and instead ate the sausage which was not bad and moved onto the pulled pork which was also just ok and a bit dry. The sides were good but they are sides afterall. Im guessing my waitress noticed that I separated my brisket onto another plate in order to leave it and she brought me another piece from the back and apologized claiming that it was the way the brisket was cut that was the problem. I smiled and thanked her for her trouble which I thought was above and beyond for her to do. To be fair the second piece was much better as far as color goes and it was definitely much more tender than the piece I got originally. My girlfriend, who had eaten here several times before covid, told me that the quality of the food has declined significantly. Nonetheless, we made the best out of our experience and enjoyed the rest of our time there and celebrated my dad's birthday. On a positive note, our waitress was very attentive and even found us a birthday candle when we realized we had forgotten our own. Not sure I will return to State Line. Aside from the service and beauty of the restaurant there is not much there that's appealing.I honestly believe the quality and taste of Famous Dave's, or Rudy's is exponentially better. I sincerely hope things get better and that my experience...

The most emotionally traumatizing experience my wife and I could have had. My Father recently passed away, a beautiful korean War veteran. I had previously stayed with him at Sunland Hotel and had dined at State Line. It was a nice memorable experience. This was before I met my beautiful perfect amazing wife. Yes! she's missing most of her teeth due to childhood trauma and only being fed candy. The server at the bar was pleasant as was the hostess. Kelly though kept giving us these stares of disgust which I ignored. My wife finished her meal. I asked for another drink. Soon after I notice Kelly and another individual pointing and laughing our way. Smirking and having a conversation which was obviously about us. I am not paranoid, In fact the day prior we stayed at Embassy Suites and it was an amazing experience. I even went out of my way to call management (Ms. Alice), and tell her how much I appreciated all her staff. I explained to her how often people gawk, stare, laugh. While I'm drinking my beer a randomn female waiter approaches us. Gently shoves the chair next to me and sarcastically asks. "Are you done? Is there anything else you need?" She was part of the group that went from two, to about five glaring, gawking and laughing our way. At that point I ask for the manager. Well who was he? Edie, the one that was having a blast with Kelly pointing and laughing our way. In fact Kelly had passes by several times one of which she glanced at the t-shirt I'd bought my wife which says..... lovely girl. Kelly smirked, I ignored that. Bullies can bully from afar, Bullies can be grown adults too!! I'm proud to dine with my wife. Taft Diaz, Cafe Central, Weso... McDonald's as well if we just want a quick lunch. I only purchased a meal for my wife because I was not hungry. I tipped $10, and no.. we did not share that meal. For all that staff that took the time to make fun of a child of the most highest God. You should be ashamed of yourselves! This beautiful soul I'm blessed with has more class than all of you combined. You may ask why have you not done anything about her dental issues? Because we've only been together five months. And when she shared her heart with me the first day, I knew God had finally answered my prayers. I will continue to sing to her. The song that describes everything I feel.....YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL TO ME. I had to put one star to share my input. Otherwise not even that I...

After more than ten years not visiting State line.. we decided for my husbands birthday to go out and celebrate since all of us were vaccinated. we drove from the far east side of town. We were so looking forward to it as I remember the good old days and how great food and service was. We arrived and the receptionist smiled but was so "matter of fact" and rushed after i had just explained to her how we had not been her in a long time and were here for my husband's birthday. I tried to brush it off as I was there to celebrated and perhaps I was over thinking it. A nice gentleman showed to the booth in the back section and He was quite pleasant. we sat down and about to look at the menu, when an attendant showed up and the only thing she said was " do you need more time".. not a hello or a welcome or a nice gesture.. super flustered and rushed..of course we said give us a minute.. she then returned and took our order.. rushed.. and did not offer us a beverage since she saw that we had cocktails..i stopped before she ran off.. and asked for tea and water with our meal. meal came quickly..and after that we did not see her at all until it was time to bring the check. we were not offered an extra plate to put the rib bones.. so half of our plates were eaten ribs and half not.. It was disgusting!.. when she came at the end i asked her to please remove plate full of rib bones. she brought us a box for leftovers.. and left again... she never came back so we left and looked for someone to charge us.. she then notice her table was empty and ran after us as though we would leave without paying. needless to say no gratuity was left.. A gratuity is earned not assumed!.. this place is not what it it used to be.. from beginning to end, except for the nice gentlemen who sat us.., was not a good experience.. what a way to ruin a celebration!.. I hope management reads reviews in hopes they improve their service.. as for us we will not return for a long time.. and will tell everyone we know about our experience and NO i would not recommend this place to anyone at this time .. Oh by the way.. they told me it would be a wait because they were at 30% capacity due to covid19 .. yet when we were called to our table... every single table was taken.. no social distance...
