I had not been here in almost 2 years since I had the privilege of having good Mexican food at home but now that I don't I decided to stop by for dinner with my daughters. I must say the visit was disappointing. Perhaps I got there a bit too late but they close at 9 and we arrived at 7:30. We didn't wait long but I was surprised of the wait being that half the place was empty. Getting to the point. The staples of a Mexican restaurant are still there , great salsa(spicy!)and tasty, refried beans are solid and so was the rice. My issue was the portion size for what my plate cost, tiny portions of beans and rice, the green chile verde stew was all long green chile with a side of meat. I should have taken pics, I mean it was bad. I get it, good costs are up but if you are charging upwards of $15 for a plate of chile verde stew at least make sure the stew has plenty of meat. As for my daughters plate, she had more rice and beans than I did but her beef taco was way too fried, she was a good sport and ate it but it was bad, my other daughter had a bean and cheese burrito, not bad for beans and cheese but at almost $6 , not worth it. willing to go back at a different time of the day but it might not be for a while. Also, the temperature in the place was way too cold, you could feel the AC blasting, I asked if it could be lowered. Not sure if the waitress even asked. As far as service, it was ok. Like most places, seems as if they were understaffed or perhaps because of the time of day they felt they didn't need much staff. In my opinion other guests didn't look too happy with the service. Giving them a 3,but it should be...
Read moreWe love this place. We used to go to the one on George Dieter but this one is closer. Went Monday and Manager was super nice and attentive. Went back today Thursday for dinner... Hostess met us outside and told us to wait. We waited Monday too but just one minute. We had to wait longer in the wind and we were ready to leave after 10 mins. We saw there was alot of employees and at most six people in there. We asked the hostess what the hold up was and she was just like we have to wait. We asked if we could wait inside. I know social distancing but nobody was there and we had mask on. Finally a guy manager asked if we were being helped. We said not yet. We just wanted to be inside because we were outside in the wind for a bit and he said oh ok. I figured he would apologize or something. So service was slow. Took a while for margarita to show up. Someone else had to come and help. Service was a 10+ on Monday. They need the same managers from Monday to keep things just right. Hostess needs a little lesson on being friendly. Just annoyed from being outside and service didnt help. Food is good and sopalpillas...
Read moreWe recently visited La Palmas Mexican Restaurant, we were looking forward to the fish tacos, especially since it was the beginning of the lent season when they're particularly popular. Unfortunately, We were a bit disappointed with the size of the fish in the tacos. Don't get me wrong the flavors were all there. The fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, with a crispy outer layer that gave way to tender, flaky meat inside. The toppings were also great, with a zesty slaw, a creamy avocado sauce, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. And the tortillas were warm, soft, and just the right amount of chewy. However, compared to previous visits to La Palmas, I couldn't help but notice that the size of the fish seemed to have shrunk. It was still tasty, but I was hoping for a bit more heft to each bite. Overall, though, I still think La Palmas is a great restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with colorful decor and friendly staff. Sadly I don’t think we will be ordering the fish taco’s anymore. If you're a fan of Mexican cuisine, I'd definitely recommend giving La...
