I actually gave this place 4 out of 5 stars over a year ago. How things have changed. I use to purchase EVERY Wednesday no less than $60 in food to go form this place. Like clock work, Wednesday's are my sushi night. I opted out of going to no less than three sushi places to come to this one. On 3/29/2017 at 20:08 I ordered the usual, 3 spicy tuna rolls w/out cucumber and the nori rice on the outside, along with 2 tuna tataki's. I checked the order before I left the establishment and they had to remake all of it. I checked it a second time after they corrected their deficiencies. Visually it looked correct so I accepted it. Got all the way home to find out that it was made incorrectly again, from the taste. There was no spicy tuna what so ever. The tuna tataki had no sauce. I went back, very politely by the way at 21:17. Spoke to this poor girl who was the evening manager and said that it was made in correctly and showed her. she actually had the never to tell me after we both visually inspected it together "I think I see some right there" pointing to an exact spot that was less than the size of a pencil eraser. I then deconstructed it for her and asked her to show me. She declined. Then I took the tuna tataki and she said it looked fine and I told her there was no sauce. She then again, told me it was made right. I turned the dish completely upside down in my hand and told her if it was made correctly then liquid should be pouring through my hand. There wasn't even a drop of moisture. I asked if she could either make it again, correctly or give me my money back. She told me she would call the owner. She was gone from quite sometime as I patiently waited. She came back and told me that the owner told her that they will not be remaking the food AND....get this AND...they will not refund my money. I don't think they knew who they were saying this to. I immediately called the El Paso Police West Side Regional Command to file a civil report so I could sue them in small claims. I had my wife start taking photos of their food, liqueur and other licences posted on their wall behind the register. The female manager went to the back of the establishment. I requested a patrol unit and as they were en-route, the young lady came back to the front with her personal cell phone in hand to tell me that I could speak to the owner. Mind you, that the young lady also told us that we could take the food that we had brought in (that was made wrong in case your still reading) we could take home, I said it's not even on the table any more and in her surprise, she asked where it was. I said probably in the trash and I'm not taking it back, especially now. I don't know where it's been. She said she could assure me that it was put in the trash in the back...I immediately said, "How could you possibly know? You didn't even know it was taken off the table and put in the back?" There's no way you are able to assure us of such a thing." I took the phone and spoke with the owner, who started with how my wife and I are always in her establishment complaining. I cut her off and I said yes you are right, we are always in your establishment...but not always complaining. I took my whole family there the weekend before and not one thing was wrong with the food and we all ate and had a great time and not one thing got sent back and we spent over 100 dollars. I told her we have complained in the past, only when orders weren't made right. Anyone would and we've ate there enough times and we order the exact same things to know when something isn't made right. She digressed and we eventually got all our money back. For this reason alone, I will never eat there again, it's a shame because we really honestly loved this place. Our son's school is right next to it, my wife and I went on dates there, our family had lots and lots of dinners there. So it was more than just another restaurant to us. It's where we had a lot of memories. Sadly we'll have to make new memories...
Read moreThis was my second visit, after the first time I had vowed no to come back, food did not impress, but we decided to give it another try. This time we didn't even get to taste the food. Terrible service! We arrived, our presence was not even acknowledged, we HAD to ask if we needed to wait to be seated, we took a seat at the sushi bar. 20 minutes later we HAD to ask if anybody was going to take our order. Minutes later we get the little cup of soup, 30 minutes later our food still nowhere in sight, we get up and ask how much we owed for the soup, the sushi chef (and apparently the mgr or owner) says "oh your order is ready". Really!? and we're seating here 2 feet away from you and you don't say anything? I said, no thank you lost my appetite, she offered for us to take it go, no thank you. There was probably 25% occupancy, so it's not like the place was super busy. I understand, small business hard working people probably, but no, this is not the way to attract and keep customers,...
Read moreI went there on Saturday after watching the River Bride at the NMSU Theatre. I was craving sushi and according to the online reviews this place was considered good. After eating there I have to wonder are the people reviewing this restaurant ignorant, never ever left Las Cruces or just never had good sushi. I'm from Southern California so although I don't consider myself an expert I have eaten at a great number of sushi restaurants and I do know good sushi from horrible sushi. Service was bad period, fish was old, Miso soup was watered down, rise was mushy, rolls just sucked period, nigiri was a joke. We sat at bar and never once did chef ( I refuse to call him a sushi chef) acknowledge us. He was more interested in football game playing on tv. Do yourself a favor and go to Sakura on Lohman. My next call will be to the...
