We've been to this place many times to include the celebration of several important events! So I happily chose this place again in hopes of having a pleasant experience once more!
However, It seems like fate had a different experience waiting for us on June 1st. We arrived about mid-morning, and my bride arranged with the hostess to sit outside. Shortly after the hostess left, our drink orders were taken and delivered by two different people, and each said someone else would be by to take our food orders.
Melissa arrived a few minutes later. I ordered my wife's food (she asked me to) and I made my selection and specified 2 things, I requested the eggs in the same fashion I have for the last 50 years (and she felt it necessary to educate me on the matter). I was also very specific on how I wanted them (without hollandaise sauce). When my food arrived, I was happy to see my wife's order was correct and disappointed that mine was not. Yes, it had the sauce I had precislely asked NOT to have...
To be honest, I was dealing with a personal issue (death anniversary of a loved one), and the earlier condescending treatment from Melissa was enough to prompt me to escalate the matter in a manner that would have been less than ideal. I chose to cool off, muscle through the meal mostly to avoid ruining the experience for my wife.
Once we were done, I asked for the bill and attempted to hand her my credit card, to which she reacted as if my hand was soiled with feces... I assure you it was not!
I kept my cool and paid the bill, left an undeserving 20% tip (because I'm fully aware of the typical compensation structure that exists in the service industry and inflation is horrible these days), and made sure to fill out the requested evaluation that came with the bill (which was either prefilled or started by someone else). I was sincere and accurate on the details, left my email address, and my full name.
It is disappointing to see the management or the person who was supposed to read those evaluations did not contact me! It has been 9 days! Yes, I checked my junk folder, too...
I'm open to the possibility that perhaps Melissa read it and chose not to deliver it... Regardless of what actually happened, I've chosen this venue to make my remarks about the experience.
So, if you're ever at this establishment and you happen to have a similar experience, let them know (have the manager come over to your table).
It takes years to create a brand and seconds to destroy it by uncaring staff (or perhaps are carrying out a...
Read moreI was looking for a great place to eat while visiting my boyfriend in El Paso, so I typed in a google search and up popped Ripe Eatery. I am currently a culinary student in Tucson, Az and definitely appreciate good food! We stopped in for a late lunch not knowing what to expect after the mixed reviews. We were seated right away and greeted by out server Kia, who was warm and friendly. She was very attentive took our orders and even helping my boyfriend decide on and entrée. We received our drinks(a dark ale of some sort, a Stella, and cucumber mint spritzer, all wonderful) and soon after we got out apps. We ordered the Soy Ginger Calamari which was absolutely delicious, the calamari were tender inside and perfectly fried outside. We also ordered the Eggplant and Ricotta Flat bread, Also very good! We were hardly done with our appetizers when our meals arrived, he ordered the Steak and Pappas, the steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked medium. The potato had great flavor not sure what all was in it, but detected some sort of stinky cheese which we loved and it was all topped with a lovely arugula salad. I ordered the Buttermilk Chicken with Green Chile Béchamel and Smoked Gouda Mashers served with asparagus. The chicken was juicy and crisp, just like it should be. The Mashed potatoes were perfectly smoky and seasoned topped off with expertly cooked asparagus. We wanted to order a dessert but we were sooo pleasantly full we couldn't. Kia mentioned that they have wine Wednesdays, which would be perfect for a nice afternoon of dessert and wine. All and All we were completely satisfied!!!! The food, the atmosphere and the staff...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time here and probably the last. Seated immediately at an outside table for 2, but that was when the wheels started to fall off. Took a bit to get our server out to us and drink orders. It took a bit longer to get our food order in after that. 30 minutes later, after placing our order, there is still no food. 6 top next to us that ordered 10 minutes after us got their complete order. Went inside to check on our food order, and the surprised look on the waitres, which we had not seen or spoken to since placing our order, spoke volumes. Food finally made it out to us, and of course, it was COLD. Had to go inside to get our waitress out to is again and when we asked how long to re fire our food waa going to take, she stated "not long im just gonna have them stick it in the oven". After requesting re done food and speaking to a manager who took more time getting away from our table than actually speaking to us, they said they would re fire the food. Food didn't take long this time, and it was really good. Our waitress continued to ignore us, and we were never checked on, offered refills for our water, or asked if we wanted another bar beverage. Our waitress finally spoke to us to take our plates, and i was able to ask for the check. Now, not that i need a discount, but after all the fiasco, wouldn't you think the manager would attempt to make it right with maybe a percentage off or something???? I guess not. So long story short, it was good food, but the crappy service tainted...
