The moment I walked in I was greeted with a friendly smile. My 4 year old and I were invited to sit wherever we’d like. We chose a small table behind the cashier. The owner came and spoke to my daughter which she adored. The waitress came over and got our drink order and shortly after came to get our food selection. My daughter got chicken nuggets (go figure), I ordered a combination plate that included rice, beans, small salad, cheese enchilada, cheese Chile relleno, a shredded beef tamale, and a beef taco! The food was brought out quickly. I started with the beef taco. The shell was gently fried. The flavor from the beef was superb. Not too salty. I really enjoyed it. It reminded me of home. The Chile relleno was next. The pepper was tasty and not too spicy. That is the way that I like it. The batter was delicious as was the cheese. The tamale was great. The masa was fine. The shredded beef was tasty with a hint of spice. The cheese enchilada was to die for. Reminds me of grandma’s cooking so there is not comparison. After our meal we were served 2 sopapillas that were nice and hot. There is honey on the table and that was an added bonus. Overall this was an amazing experience. Su Casa is quite a gem and I only wish I knew about it earlier in the 5 years I have had the please to be living in El Paso. I will recommended to friends and family and we will definitely be returning...
Read moreEdit: 3 years later, and the restaurant has changed ownership. The new ownership has immediately raised prices (understandable) and also instituted a surcharge for using a credit card. Unfortunately, this sets a very negative atmosphere over the entire dining experience now - they don't even list anywhere how much the surcharge is - and I have to remove at least 1 star for now. Very disappointing! It will be difficult to continue being a regular patron of this restaurant any longer given this very negative change.
Edit: Almost two years later and it's still my favorite lunch spot in El Paso. Try the tortilla soup!
Su Casa is the best restaurant (in its price range) in El Paso. It's my favorite place to go by myself or with family and friends. The staff and owner are amazing and very friendly. They've got the best tortilla soup in all of El Paso, too, but everything else on the menu has been delicious.
Make the time to have lunch here! You will not be...
Read moreI've eaten Mexican food from Downtown all the way past Canutillo here in ELP so I feel qualified to review this popular spot. The staff here is always welcoming and attentive, making jokes and just having a great time. The food has a somewhat authentic taste although it really depends on the dish. For example, the Red Chile Stew and Enchiladas are pretty traditional but the chimichangas and more "Americanized" dishes are just ok. The menu is huge so it's hard to maintain that authentic flavor on every dish. Now, the real reason I come here is to get really full with a Tampiqueña dish and to enjoy the sopaipillas for dessert, which are always delicious with natural honey. All in all, a great place to bring the family and friends to enjoy Mexican food.
Update 2023: After several visits, the place has earned 5 stars. Atmosphere is still lacking a bit, but food and service...
