Sunny's Sushi — Restaurant in El Paso

Sad that I have to leave this review but it was simply horrible. Idk what happened this place used to be great and that's why we went back. The hostess was great and attentive so kudos on that. The waitress took a bit long to show up and take our order which were ok with. Mind you there was only about three tables in the whole place. Looking at the menu I noticed that the prices where higher than last time as far as I can remember. We ordered some hibachi, chicken fried rice, teriyaki chicken and a roll for my party. The food took a while to come out, I noticed that they were putting out to go orders as well while we waited, problem is more to go orders came out of that kitchen than our meal and the others tables. The roll came out first and it was good, then it came the hibachi, I could not believe my eyes when I saw this 21 dollar plate, it simply looked like something you get at the Chinese place at the mall for 6 bucks. Everything on that plate was straight out soaked with teriyaki sauce and trust me I had hibachi in multiple other places and they don't look like this. A little later on we got the chicken fried rice and guess what it tasted exactly the same as the hibachi go figure. Basically same plate but rearranged to be able to charge the 21 bucks. Anyway the teriyaki chicken never arrived I don't know if they forgot or they were too busy putting out to go orders or what. At the end the waitress just asked us if we wanted to take it to go. We paid and left to never come back again. My recommendation to this place is look for better cooks, and look for someone that's able to properly manage the joint, if you don't you will find your place go on downwards and before you know it boom your closed and out...

My husband and I come here often. The food tastes great and service is often good.

We were very disappointed today however.

The server dropped off our drinks and when she started taking our order, I felt something cold dripping on my feet. It was water, spilling from the bottom of the glass. Turns out the glass was cracked. I felt so relieved knowing I hadn’t yet drank from it.

When we finally made our order, I told the server I wanted the Bulgoigi Bimbimbap. I pointed to it on the menu because I am not good at pronouncing it.

Later when she brought our bill, I noticed there was a discrepancy in the price of the Bulgogi. When I spoke to the cashier about it, she told me it was because I ordered the Bulgogi dinner.

I pointed to the same item on the menu that I pointed out to our server, and when the server joined the conversation she said she “assumed that I meant the Bulgogi dinner because at one point I mentioned sometimes getting teriyaki there”.

Both her and the cashier simply stared at each other, and then at me, unwilling to do anything to resolve the issue.

No apology, no questions, no comments.

I honestly felt like they were questioning my integrity…over a $4 dollar difference.

I LOVE this place, and this location specifically. The staff is SO KIND, helpful, sweet, funny, and just generally great people. My partner and I frequent here as of late and while I love trying new things, my partner is a creature of habit. As soon as we walk in, the chefs start on a custom roll for my partner while I decide what new adventure I'll take my taste buds on. The owner, Sung Hui, and the waitress, Vianey, (I hope I spelt those right!) always help me find something delicious. Which isn't hard to do because I've never had anything less than amazing. The spring rolls and house made sauce are my new thing. Their miso soup is TOP TIER. It's flavorful and rich, always hot and yummy. They can make any custom roll, but their menu is expansive and a great fit for anyone. The food always taste fresh and clean. I'm always satisfied and satiated with one roll, but I can't help myself and usually end up getting something additional to go. I have nothing but positive things to say about everyone there. The ambiance, the food, the pricing, everything is fair, pleasant and wonderful. I will continue to come back and you...
