I placed an order to go and was told it would take 20 minutes. I arrived a couple of minutes after it was supposed to be ready. It looked pretty quiet in there. Maybe about 5 tables. Hostess told me it would a few more minutes before the food would be ready. I told her that was fine and had a seat at the bench next to the front door. It was another 30 minutes before anyone came back to talk to me. The hostess apologized and told me that there was a problem with one of my orders and it would take a little bit longer. She asked if I would like a glass of water while I waited. I told her no thank you, but I would like my food that I had ordered almost an hour ago. She told me that they would get it out ASAP. I sat back down for another 15 minutes before a waitress came out and put the bags of food down to go through and see if all of the food was there. It was but I later found that the tempura sauce and the dressing for the salad hadn't been placed inside their respective containers. I thanked her and told her that I appreciated all that her and the hostess had done and that they did all that they could do, but that I was a bit disappointed that the manager (who had been sitting down tallying the receipts the whole time) did not come over to explain what was happening. There were long stretches where I did not know what was taking so long. She looked taken aback by this and apologized again and said that she will tell him right now. As I was leaving out the door, I did see her telling the manager. While the hostess and waitress handled what they could, the best they could, the manager was severely lacking in customer service. I live in the NE and want to support the businesses that have moved out to this side of town, but I think Sunny's will be a no-go...
Read moreI walked in to place a to go order and was handed a small brochure menu. I ordered a drink and sat down to look over the menu. After a few minutes, I placed my order and specifically requested fried rice and salad instead of soup.
Strangely, just minutes after placing my order, while having my drink, the waitress brought out the bill. I found that unusual and asked if it was standard to present the check immediately, especially when a customer is still drinking. She said yes, which felt was rushed, off putting, and weird. I let it go, paid the bill, and waited for my food.
When my order came out, I double-checked it before heading back to my hotel—and noticed the salad was missing. I informed the waitress, who seemed confused and then said the meal doesn’t come with salad. I reminded her that I had asked for salad instead of soup, as full-priced meals typically come with one or the other.
The manager then came over and explained that soup or salad is only included for dine-in orders—not to-go. I found that to be strange especially since I was charged full price, not the lunch special (over $60) for my order; To be told that a simple side salad is an additional $7 on top of that is unreasonable.
At that point, I requested a refund. I wasn’t interested in going back and forth. The prices were already high for lunch, and to deny something as basic as a side salad with a full-priced entrée was...
Read moreWe've enjoyed dining at this location since they opened. Usually the food is very well prepared and perfectly cooked. This time the chicken was mostly dry and scorched throughout, with about 33% of it burnt. But the seasoning was still very good and I just dipped it into their ginger dressing to offset the dryness and cover the burnt part. The salad was perfect (clean and crisp) and the soup tasted great although the server was very stingy with the portions. I poured two bowls together just to get a half filled one. I usually get a bowl filled to 3/4 but the few girls that only give me 2 spoons woth say they have to charge me if I want a full bowl. If the issue is money, just add more hot water. The soup was thick enough with plenty of goodies in it that it would still taste great with more water. However on the Westside I always get plenty of soup in the bowl. Also the broccoli was almost raw so I requested that it be cooked until soft, not crunchy. So the server politely took it back and 15 minutes later the only difference was that it was warmer and still not cooked. The staff appears to have a good attitude but the food wasn't up to standard this time. We still enjoyed the meal and the spicy edamame...
