The Union Draft House Canyons — Restaurant in El Paso

My husband and I have been to the Sunland Park location a few time and have never been disappointed so when my daughters ask if we could try the Canyon location we didn’t hesitate. To be clear, the food was great, the drinks were better than I expected, and the vibe didn’t disappoint. Truth be told I never would have bothered to leave a review if it hadn’t been for the service that not only I, but everyone in the section received. We sat outside because inside was loud and crowded, our fault for going on a special deals night. After seated we waited 15 minutes for a server but none came. We did catch the attention of a young man that was constantly delivering food and he assured us that he would send someone out shortly, he did. The server was personable and pleasant but not attentive at all. After taking our order and bringing 1round of drinks she did not return until we were done eating assuming that we were ready for the check but we ordered a dessert instead. She asked my husband if he wanted another beer (of course he did) then she pointed at my daughter and asked if she wanted another lemonade and left totally ignoring the other two empty glasses on the table. When she returned with the two drinks and the to-go box we had asked for my daughter complimented her extravagant fingernails and they exchanged nail advice for a minute before she left the table. Because we were outside it was easy to observe the ongoings of the tables around us and it was clear that those of us outside were all experiencing a lack of attention even between the three or four servers that were going in and out. I watched three other tables wait to be greeted until finally asking for someone to help them a couple got up and left, as well as watched a different server being very short with a table. They were clearly busy, having experience as a server I understand that quality of service suffers during a rush which is why our table didn’t mind. However, throughout our meal the young man that was delivering the food to all the tables was polite and efficient the entire time we were there. He was the one who all four tables (us included) had asked for service upon arrival, he delivered every plate in that section along with some that I saw when inside. My friends and I had such a bad experience with the waitress Denise. I’ve had an issue with her another time where she was trying to overcharge us on a drink we never asked for. Anyways we were celebrating a friend’s birthday when she STOLE an envelope with a gift-card that I gifted. We walked out of the restaurant and the person we were celebrating forgot the card so he walked back in right away and it was gone from the table but all the food and trash was still there except for the card. Denise claimed that she threw away the trash from the table in the women’s restroom ( which is odd) and had took the trash out of the women’s restroom to the floor where everyone was eating so the person celebrating his birthday can look through it to find his card. Herself and the manager Adam proceeded to ignore my friends who were trying to figure out where Denise took the card. The manager Adam was very unhelpful and blamed the cooks and the dishwashers that they like to go through stuff which is totally unprofessional. He didn’t resolve the issue and tried to cover up for a thief which is morally wrong. Denise along with another waitress came out from the kitchen with the envelope and the birthday card that had bbq sauce on it, as if it was thrown in the kitchen trash. But ironically the gift-card which was detached from sticky card has not one stain of food. She was so fast to take the card not even 3 minutes without us walking out. The fact that she had lied where she threw the envelope and my friends digging through trash infront of customer where they were eating. Terrible service and very incompetent waitresses. I've been to the Union West town several times and every single time, I've been charged for items that I didn't order. They make it specially hard to check your check because they show it to you on an electronic mini pad. This last time (11/30/22), we ordered several beers throughout the night that according to her were on special. Then when the bill came, we asked why it was so high, were being overcharged for all the beers. According to her, she misheard us and brought us the wrong beers. She then raised her voice and started to argue with everyone on the table about being our fault. Then she insisted we had the food we had ordered but never got. We had asked several times when they were going to bring our food but she kept ignoring us. She started to argue again with us about the food charges. It was until we told her that we were not going to pay for food we never got that she said after rolling her eyes she would talk to the manager. We could not believe she brought us the wrong beers and made us pay for them and worse of all, argue with us over it and the food charges. Instead of trying to resolve the problem and apologize, she yelled at us for her mistakes. She completely ruined our night.
