Express Chinese Food — Restaurant in El Segundo

I've been going to this place for about 25 years, yes, that long! I have watched the girls working there grow. Their attitudes haven't changed. On the other hand, the prices have dramatically changed beyond the rate of inflation. I understand El Segundo is an expensive city, and the lease for this establishment is probably outrageous for the owners too. The quality of the food has somewhat been downgraded overtime, yet the prices continued to increase. But hey, it's at a prime location near the airport and this area is crowded during the lunch hours. Profits over quality. =( The workers are from Cambodia, so don't expect "American" civil/respectful service. Yes, some of the girls are loud, but it is their language and how they speak. To us Americans, it may seem like they're angry, but again, it's just how they speak their language. Selena is the friendliest there. Always nice to see her greeting customers and actually SMILE back. THANK YOU SELENA! The other 2 girls, well, what can I say. Yes, they're always on their phone talking loudly while you try to order, and it gets confusing to converse with them to verify your order. I stopped going there regularly because of 1) food lacks flavor and meat, 2) Overpriced menu. My last visit was January 2024, and only as a last resort to get some quick food during non-peak hours for lunch or dinner. Yes...I agree with most of the other reviewers..the middle aged woman taking my order wasn't friendly at all, and when asking what the deluxe included the answer was confusing and she acted like she didn't know! (yeah right!! believe me, She knew EXACTLY what the deluxe included) it was more like she didn't want to bother answering. Yes..the order takers are not friendly or helpful at all. With as many complaints as I've seen about the unfriendly and unhelpful service people, you would think they would have done something about it by now. What keeps me coming back is the food. It is very good, authentic and is cooked in wok's fresh to order. The same chef..older man..Works very hard And knows what he's doing.,no steam tables.

It takes very little effort to smile..have a friendly word. And to have a place with such good food, it would seem like they would take pride to tell you what's in the dish and a little about it's preparation..again, this takes very little time & effort And goes a long way to help your business. There are many people who, even though the food is good,...will not come back when they're ignored and not...

Very disappointing experience at lunch time today. Woman in the photo was at the cash register to take orders standing next to another woman at the register. I was literally 2 feet in front of the 2 women and I gave them a bright and shiny hello and smile. I was surprised the 2 continued to talk with each other not even giving me a glance or acknowledgment. I literally felt I was being brushed away and that I was unwelcome there so I left. I couldn't have been better dressed as I had my nice work clothes on so there was nothing inappropriate on my part. But their behavior was just that, not appropriate, they wouldn't welcome or look at me or even take my order. I turned around and left and they did not ask why. They simply went onto the next unassuming diner to take her order. If you are cold as ice and don't mind being ignored or hated, maybe this place is for you. If you can't handle or accept rude service then like me, maybe you could go somewhere else, there is a whole row of restaurants on that block. I sure did leave and go somewhere else. Very unhappy...
