Hyatt Place Los Angeles/LAX/El Segundo My experience in this hotel was bad. To begin with, this hotel is located next to the airport, to be more precise, there are the FedEx planes. So you can hear a lot of noise when taking off AND LANDING AIRCRAFT. It is very annoying to be listening to airplanes while you sleep or early in the morning. Only occupied the hotel room at night. In addition, the Metro suburban train is in front of the hotel, so you can hear movement at night until sunset. That is too annoying. Inside the hotel, in the room the heating made too much noise when it turned on and it did not heat much, apparently it was broken. The customer service of the staff is the most depressing. I asked for the cleaning of the room because when I arrived there was hair and sand on the floor. I was told that cleaning was done every 4 days. I stayed for 4 days from March 16 to 20. On day 2 I demanded that it be cleaned, they told me that for reasons of COVID 19 and for security, and due to Hotel policies, they could not do it. I kept claiming and then they argued that there was no staff. The mistreatment of the people who were in Front Desk LEAH and RENE did not care about my need. I finally got the cleaning done a day before I left the room. I had to go down to ask for towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, soap, and everything necessary for daily personal hygiene. In other words, I was doing their work for free. That policy or pretext that due to COVID 19 they cannot clean the room, is a pretext for saving money in favor of the hotel, and to the detriment of the clients. Those kinds of excuses are superfluous. I PAID FOR A SERVICE THAT WAS NOT PROVIDED TO ME. Add to that the bad attitude, lack of interest in customer service, how rude, how grotesque LEAH and RENE were. The disgust with LEAH and RENE reached such a degree that when I went down to breakfast they did not say hello or they denied me the look, Parking is charged at $18.00 per day, and is not specified in the hotel description on the COSTCO page. They also indicate that cleaning is daily. And it was not fulfilled. COSTCO should warn for those details, charges or modifications of services. You must also include the local telephone number of each hotel that is advertised to request additional information. My quote according to the COSTCO page was Base package Price $536.40 + Taxes and Fees $65.57 With a Total of $601 I had to pay the hotel $673.96 for fees that were not described in the COSTCO package. What a pity that they are like that. This comment will be published on other travel platforms, as well as on YouTube to serve as a testimony and not be victims of mistreatment as I was. I paid for a service that was not given to us. I ask for a refund of 25% of the value that...
Read moreThe Hyatt Place Hotel in El Segundo, CA is alright for a night or two, but do NOT consider this hotel for extended stay. Reasons? No microwaves in the rooms, no freezer in the mini-fridge, terrible cell phone reception and horrid to zero internet speeds in the evening.
I have been on temporary assignment for my large aerospace corporation in the El Segundo area for the past seven months. During that time, I have tried out several different hotels in the area, so I have some good basis for this review.
This hotel is OK for a night or two because it is relatively new, modern and clean. The rooms are spacious. The location is secluded and quiet, yet fairly close to LAX airport. They also have a pretty decent free breakfast.
Unfortunately, I've had to stay here three different weeks in the past seven months. I have been in a different room each time. None of the rooms have an decent cell phone coverage. When my wife calls, the cell phone often won't ring. When it does, we often get dropped calls. That's with Verizon, one of the strongest coverages in the US. My colleagues who have stayed here and have different cell providers say the same thing. This location is just a black hole for cellular service,
I don't like to spend a lot of money going out to eat. I'd rather cook for myself. That means keeping things in a fridge and freezer and being able to heat that food. The mini fridge in these rooms is so small that it doesn't have a freezer section. But totally unforgivable is a lack of room microwaves. The first time I stayed here, I called the front desk thinking I must have somehow overlooked the obvious. But they confirmed that none of the rooms have a microwave. They said I was welcome to go down to the lobby and use the microwave there. I felt rather stupid carrying my frozen dinner down the elevator. I had to use the box the dinner came in as a hot pad on the way back to my room so I wouldn't burn my hands. Omitting microwaves from the rooms is a pretty poor cost-savings decision.
The final deal breaker is an almost complete lack of internet connection in the evenings. As a long-term weekly resident, I often work from my hotel room in the evening. If I'm not working, I might be viewing or uploading files to YouTube. In this hotel, any of those things is impossible. When building this hotel, they decided not to hard wire the rooms for internet. That would be fine if they had good enough wireless service. They do NOT. It doesn't matter what room I am in, the ability to make a reliable connection after 9:00 in the evening is almost non-existent. Again, I have colleagues who have stayed here that can vouch for that, so it's not just me.
And there you have it. Drop in for a quick stay. Beyond that,...
Read moreThis hotel is a disgrace to the Hyatt brand. It was disgusting. Firstly when I walked in the toilet was not flushed. After I noticed that I noticed the sink and faucet were filthy and so was the seat of the toilet. It was very clear no one had cleaned before I entered. All they did was make the bed. The cabinets were chipping and dirty and moldy. The sliding door in the bathroom had yellow sticky grime on it. The lights in the room did not work and there was only ONE mirror, inconveniently placed in the bathroom. They didn't have not one full sized mirror. There were also stains on the couch (see photo). I called the front desk the night I got there to tell them that it looks like the room wasn't cleaned and he didn't even assure me that they clean the rooms. His response gave the impression that this is something they do and hope guests don't notice. Housekeeping only offers a "refresh" on rooms every second night and a full cleaning on the 4th night which makes sense why everything got so dirty and run down. They definitely didn't clean the room, only "refreshed it", before we came in. The front desk clerk said he'll see what he can do in the morning and will pass the message on to the morning shift front desk workers to handle it. I was fine with that because it seemed like they were willing to assist with our issue. But when I went down to the front in the morning it was obvious it was their first time hearing about it and he in fact did not pass the message on. They told us they'll either clean it or give us a new room if one was available. We left for a good 3 hours and the room still wasn't cleaned and they told us we'd have to wait because they're cleaning other rooms. Why should we have to wait to get our room cleaned when it was never cleaned to begin with? They had no sense of urgency and seemed to not care to rectify our situation. When we got back upstairs we tried to turn the AC on but instead were met with HEAT blowing out the vents. The room touched nearly 90 degrees. I have documented everything. This wasn't just an issue of comfort it's an issue of health because being a space that isn't sanitized after a previous guest is not only disgusting but a health risk. Do not stay here. The pictures are from 30 years ago and the hotel is actually very run down and nasty. I've never had a hotel experience like this and as my first time in LA I see why people say not to come here...
