I've been to Hopdoddy a few times when I wanted to treat myself to a pretty good burger--even if it is a little pricey. This evening I ordered a meal from their website and had it delivered while I was in a meeting. After I received it, I opened up the little to go box that my burger was in and there was sauce and lettuce all over the bottom. It was a wreck. I wasn't sure why it was like that, but that should have been a sign to turn back. The bun was soggy because of all that sauce. Who does that? Did anyone even care? Then, I bit into the burger and noticed that it was raw inside--RAW! Not to mention it was completely cold. I could understand if it being cold if I had it delivered a really far distance...but I was .2 miles away. Anyways, I called the restaurant and the phone just rang and rang and rang...I almost hung up, but finally an enthusiastic young man answered and I requested to speak with the manager. I'll withhold the manager's name here because I can tell he was only doing what he was trained to do. He asked if I wanted them to remake the burger and I didn't feel comfortable with the current staff handling my food. He told me if I wanted a refund that I would have to contact Door Dash. Wait...what?! I told him I ordered online through Hopdoddy's website--not Door Dash. He said since it's delivery, I am paying the delivery service and not the restaurant. Even if that's true, that's not my problem. Hopdoddy is choosing to use the 3rd party delivery. Also, I know that I entered my payment info on Hopdoddy's website--not Door Dash! At any rate, you can see the state of things when the people charging you $37 for a burger and fries can't apologize for the mistake and would give that customer the runaround to receive a refund when they gave that customer unsafe food. The manager literally told me that there is nothing else he can do and they cannot give me a refund. I'm just in...
Read moreWent to Hopdoddy Burger Bar around 6:00pm. Huge mistake in terms of parking and crowding. Hopdoddy is located in The Point Shopping Center. To say the place was packed is an understatement. It took us about 20 minutes to find parking.
Once we got to Hopdoddy, we were greeted immediately and the staff made every effort to seat our party of 8, which was no easy task. There is a section outside for large parties, but if the tables are already taken there is no telling how long you'll be waiting.
Once you enter you have to figure out what you want to eat right away, as you order at the register and then you are seated. I felt a bit rushed making a choice. The ambience is that of any other burger joint you might frequent. It was somewhat reminiscent of Island's without the tacky decor.
Now to the food. Hopdoddy offers plenty of choices for burgers, fries, and drinks. They even have Brussels sprouts as a side! I tried the Magic Shroom burger, the truffle parmesan and bbq ranch fries, and a chocolate shake. The burger was good. I ordered it prepared medium and it came out well, which was a bit disappointing, but didn't take away from the quality of the burger. The fries were also good, but the never came out hot. They serve the fries in a large bowl for sharing. The chocolate shake was way too sweet. Other people in my party ordered shakes and that was the consensus across the board. The star of the show for me was the Big Larry. It's basically a Cadillac margarita (frozen house margarita with a shot of Grand Marnier). Whoever made the drinks was heavy with the cognac, and I thank them for that.
Overall, good food and ambience. Would definitely go back for...
Read moreI've been here a handful of times, but was a bit more disappointed last night. We arrived at about 8:30 on a Saturday night. The line to order was almost out the door. Unfortunately there was only one cashier open. After some extended waiting the line moved up. When we ordered our burger we were told that there were only lettuce wraps and wheat buns available. How does a burger joint run out of regular buns? To drink I ordered a cocktail and glasses for water. My wife wanted soda water from the soda dispenser. Apparently they don't have soda water from the dispenser, but the cashier was nice enough to throw in a free mineral water. I then proceeded to serve myself some ice and none came out. We sat down with some friends at our table and almost immediately they were served their drinks and salad. 15 minutes into the dinner I still didn't get my cocktail and asked the bartender who usually serves the drinks. He looked over the the counter and my drink was sitting there. It must have been sitting there for a while because there was plenty of condensation on the glass and the ice was pretty diluted. Our friends received their fries a little after being seated and we got ours much later with our burgers. The server ended up bringing a second salad not knowing they already brought one earlier and he let us keep it. My classic burger was okay. The beef needed seasoning. It tasted a bit bland. I ordered a fried egg on mine, but it was more of an egg patty. I was looking for a runny fried egg. It seemed like an off night for the staff. They were nice and all, but seemed understaffed and not on...
