The Baseline: For a Vietnamese cafe the Pho must be quality, the accompaniment add-in ingredients must be fresh, the meats must be well prepared, and menu must have authentic Vietnamese flavors
Food: The food is high quality family style servings Vietnamese food that is great for small groups. For starters we had the Crispy Pork & Shrimp Spring Rolls and the sweet and spicy chicken wings which was a really great start of the meal. These are great starters that will not over fill you up if you are sharing. For entrees we had the Broken Bowl (which saves you on needing to order a side of rice and the chicken needs a little more lemon grass flavor), the Suon nuong grilled pork chop (a must have because the meat was really good and well flavored with Vietnamese spices), and the Bo Kho braised beef (more of a soup and a heavy star anises after taste which I have a personal dislike for). The drinks were really good and I liked the Hanoi Heatwave which was good on the spice level.
Service: Good service with a staff that collaborates their duties together. They asked about allergies which was very nice due to a shell-fish allergy person at our table.
Ambiance: The look and feel of the restaurant was awesome. The bathroom was clean. They have patio seating and an open window wall to let in the cool coastal air. A great location for a meal.
Previous Review: This is a great high end Vietnamese restaurant. You can get traditional dishes here that you will be used to ordering at other Vietnamese restaurants, but the menu had different offerings I had to try them. I recommend the shaky shaky beef and ‘xoi’ sticky rice. The dishes are served family style so you can share with family or a group. I had some small wait time issues on my visit (nothing too bad) but, I definitely will be...
Read moreFirst off, let's talk about the vibe. Walking in, you immediately notice the beautiful interior. It's chic, it's stylish, and it's got this cool, modern feel. If you're a fan of sitting at the bar, they've got you covered with a seriously impressive selection of drinks. It's the perfect spot for a date night or a special occasion.
We went to celebrate a friend's birthday, and it was the perfect setting. I decided to try the Shaky Shaky Beef, and man, was I impressed. The beef was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the combination with the watercress, baby tomatoes, and burnt butter soy was terrific. It was a dish that was both comforting and exciting.
My wife, who's a big fan of seafood curry, went for the Vietnamese Seafood Curry. She was equally impressed. The flavors were rich and complex, and the seafood was cooked perfectly.
Now, let's address the elephant in the room: the price. Little Sister is definitely pricier than your typical Vietnamese restaurant. But honestly, it's worth it. It's a higher-end experience, and the quality of the food and the ambiance reflect that. It’s the kind of place you go when you want to treat yourself or celebrate something special.
Little Sister is a fantastic option if you're looking for a sophisticated and delicious Vietnamese dining experience. It's perfect for a date night, a birthday celebration, or just a night out with friends. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is chic, and the service is top-notch. It's a 5-star experience, and I can't...
Read moreFood tasted great and the price is reasonable for the portion size — one bowl of pho bo lasted me 2 full meals! They are also very generous with the amount of meat!
Parking at this shopping center took a really long time for a weekday lunch, so be prepared for that!
The service was average until at the very end. We asked for the check 2 times and waited 15 min before it finally arrived. The restaurant was mostly empty at this point so it didn’t seem busy. When we got our to-go boxes, they gave us a paper bag to store the containers. The bag was CLEARLY used before and had grease stains and crumbs all over it! We were running late for our next plans at this point so we just used the bags, but it was really gross.
The last most minor criticisms: The chopsticks they give you are single-use chopsticks which they wash and reuse. I like the idea for sustainability, but because of the poor quality of these chopsticks, some of them had splinters and the fibers were peeling. The warm towels they provide to clean your hands before eating are WAY too soaked. The water was dripping down my wrists and splashed onto my pants hahaha!
Overall, the pho bo was a great value meal and tasted nice. I cannot comment on authenticity, but I liked it a lot. I felt frustrated by the slow and disorganized service, but I would still come back...
