Absolutely avoid. Especially if you have kids. So many other great breweries in this area that deserve business. I frequent breweries maybe once a week or so and this I will be avoiding completely going forward. Have already told all my friends before writing this.
Looked this place up, and the owner, Tommy Ginoza, should be embarrassed and do some major trimming of his staff.
I took my wife, three kids, and mom here today. At first I got pushback from my wife on going here as the first time we went here a few months ago with other families was not a good experience, but I went for it as I wanted to give it a second chance. Mistake.
It’s not the place itself - which is nice and comfortable and good place to chill - but the staff that is the problem. First time we came we were scolded at least two or three times for our and our friends’ kids dropping crumbs on the ground and our not instantly picking them up. Also for them being farther than arms reach away and us not controlling them and keeping them right at our table. Weren’t even being disruptive, but just being kids. First time this has ever happened, which is incredible given how often we go to breweries given how easy breweries generally are with kids.
Specifically, there is a woman employee here - maybe 5’9 or so with darker complexion, bigger build - who made us feel incredibly inferior during this first time and called us out multiple times unnecessarily and not in a kind way that I would expect from someone in the hospitality business. Then today, when we pulled up to check out what food truck was here and slowed down in front of the building, a white car behind us pulled up and blared their horn at us after we were stopped to literally seconds. Incredibly embarrassing. Literally we were sitting there for maybe 1-2 seconds when they did this. Then they proceed to stop and park in front of the brewery, and walk inside. Ends up it’s the same exact girl who was incredibly mean and rude to my entire group the first time we were there. Incredibly rude. Who does that in front of their own employer? If any of the employees who work for me did that it would be a major problem for them. And then seeing how she, and the rest of the staff, treated patrons who take time out of their day to come here and spend money, is frankly pathetic. This has to be happening often for this to be the same experience both times we came here completely at random.
Another male staff member scolded my kids for taking dog treats out of the dog treat bin right in front of me. Asking if they realized those were dog treats and asking if we had a dog in order to use. Same guy also told my kids to get off the unused stage when they stepped on it for two seconds, saying it was a liability. Just ridiculous. My kids are ever well behaved and this is uncalled for. Just chill a bit. Again, we go to breweries literally all the time and have never run into this sort of thing.
I generally am very forgiving and don’t write reviews like this, but this place deserves to know and people should know before coming. Go anywhere else but here. Give companies business who treat people kindly. Not like complete trash and like we’re lucky to...
Read moreI can't believe this place has only been open for two months—Sugar Monkey Brewery already feels like a staple in the community! The quality of their beers is truly remarkable, especially for such a new establishment. We tried a flight to sample all their offerings, and every single one was delicious. They also have flavored seltzers that were surprisingly good, a great option for those who might not be into beer.
The indoor brewery space is fantastic—clean, cozy, and filled with fun activities. My family and I (two adults, one teenager, and one infant in a stroller) had a blast playing shuffleboard and board games like Piggy Piggy. It’s such a welcoming, family-friendly environment, which isn’t always easy to find in a brewery.
The bathrooms were spotless, which is always a big plus. We also loved the flexibility of the food options. There was a taco cart in the outdoor area specifically for brewery guests, but they also allow outside food. We grabbed some delicious fries, onion rings, and a salad from The Habit next door and enjoyed them while we played our games.
Sugar Monkey Brewery has created a perfect balance between a great craft beer experience and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. We’ll definitely...
Read moreGreat beer with a laid back local vibe. Bring your dog! A few of the IPA’s have a smoother middle of the road IPA flavor - just bitter enough so that you know it’s an IPA, but just enough fruit to make it especially drinkable. I have been here a few times with a different food truck vendor on the property so it’s always a fresh taste if you want food. I carefully asked if I could bring in a take out meal from Chipotle grill which is right around the corner and it wasn’t an issue. The outside beer garden is tastefully illuminated with string lights and flame heaters and a few table top style fire pits. I personally suck at pool, but many enjoy that element of the venue. There are many big screens streaming sports (and hockey for sure!) Bottom line - if you are passing through and want to grab a convenient high end pint, or you are staying at one of the local hotels #flightcrew, give this...
