Applebee's Grill + Bar — Restaurant in Elgin

This place is a great location when shopping in the area. My husband and I stopped on Tuesday Nov 15 for dinner after a long day of work and running around at the stores. We order our dinner. I ordered and ice tea and my husband order a 36 Carafe, server asked if we were sharing he said no. While waiting for dinner we noticed all servers were sitting at the bar just chilling. Which restaurant allows servers to just sit at the bar and wait to be busy? Never. I have 15 years of restaurant experience. We noticed the manager taking selfies with the servers. He has long hair he has it pulled back put is barely holding, very messy, shirt half tucked. I told my husband I remember when managers had to be presentable. Not once did he came over to check our table. My husband’s drink was very strong, how wouldn’t be if they poured 3 shots of vodka plus blue curaçao. He waited for 10min before drinking it because he wanted to get more juice to make it less stronger. Service was very slow. Restaurant was not busy at all. We were done and we asked for a to go cup, my husband pour his drink and as soon as he did that the manager came running and snatched very aggressively from his hands. Of course we were upset. We know it’s wrong but the way he did it, he didn’t card at all on how our service was, didn’t care that his 18 yr old serve a drink that is supposed to be for 2+ people to one person. My husband was over served. That drink should have not be served to 1 person. We admitted to him it was wrong, but the way he was handling was wrong. He told us you paid your bill now get out. Upper management should really look into this. If my husband had drinker all that drink he would have been intoxicated. A 36oz alcohol drink is not served...

I Just had one of the worst dining experiences of my life! We arrived to the location over an hour before close. We noticed that there was an employee just staring at us out the window? My girlfriend was uncomfortable and saying we should go somewhere else I said nah they are probably just slow we come in late all the time no issues. When we approached the employee (turns out to be the host) then ran around and down to the door and flung it open at us. With no greeting or your waiter will be with you, leads us to the table. Then we are ordering and the host then turns the music all the way up until the waitress and my girlfriend are shouting back and forth. I waited until the end of the song just thinking maybe it was a favorite or somthing, but it continued. I then asked for the music to be turned down, and it quickly was. But then the host came back out and turned it up once again. Me and my girlfriend could not hold a conversation so I asked again, promptly it was turned back down. But again the same employee came and turned it back this time they were notified that it was by request. But while we were eating we noticed that another couple came (shortly after 10pm) but since no one flung the door open at them they found that it was locked???? So that being said I can only assume that since the door was locked over an hour before close this employee was mad we came in at that time. Then tried to make our dinner as unenjoyable as possible. These kind of issues are unacceptable not only will it lose you customers but that extra hour closed will lose on revenue, and wages paid to employees not working. My Mom Dad and I went there August 12th to celebrate our birthdays,We got seated right away,by a girl w no personality,which was ok,but our server JOAQUIN OR JOJO was a nightmare from beginning to end.Says ill be right w you.We were there 45 minutes before he even took or drink order My Dad ordered all you can eat boneless wings,JoJo brought the appetizer the boneless wings,there were 5 pathetic looking boneless wings,looked like the bottom of the barrel noticed everyone else was getting the fries too,the plate my Dad got had 5 boneless wings thats it,thats when we questioned why he didn't get fries,oh JOJO says,you didn't order the all you can eat,which yes he did! my Dad let that slide,but from then on JOJO,was extremely rude about everything,yelled at us from across the restaurant, talked bad about us to his fellow workers which he was very loud and we heard everything he said He said 3 times "IM ONLY ONE PERSON!" said it 3 separate times took us extremely long to get our order.i needed an extra cup of brushetta for my penne pasta,cause there was hardly any on there, the times he did come around he went the other way from our table so we couldn't get his attention, Anyways his attitude was extremely rude and unprofessional even swearing at us at one point used to go there all the time but will not be back as long as JOJO attitude works there there was only 2 other couples in there dining,so everything took so long for what reason we don't know But every time we said something he barked "IM ONLY ONE PERSON" Very Bad...
