In the last 10 years iv lived in Elgin this is the best taco place! Paraiso is horrible! El Faro might as well be gas station tacos, and the more recent taco place to come in around the same time as El Jerez is Emily’s tacos. Emilys tacos aren’t horrible but lack flavor. The food here is a 10/10!!! But every single time i come here they let me down with the little amount of meat they put in, Its like they give one spoon of me its such a let down because the food is 10/10!!! Can u guys please stop rationing the meat and just fill the tacos and tortas with a decent amount come on!! Also if u want to stand out from every other taco place, when we ask for only green salsa stop saying ok and still giving us 1 green and 1 red! We dont want red if we go out of our way to say only green and its like every taco place has the same policy with salsa that McDonald’s has with BBQ sauce you Mfs act like its coming out of your check or somthing give us enough salsa to fill the food geez, so what if theres an up charge. Salsa is not expensive to make!!! Please do better guys! You are the best taco place in elgin and iv lived here ...
Read moreI have been there 2 times as it was a different place. It is a fast food place, limited table service and not a restaurant style. You walk in, order, pay and seat. A true taquería style. It also has carry out and drive through options. The food is good, burrito was my 1st try and was well balance, flavors and ingredients, not too much lettuce, beans or rice. Like Other places do to build it up. It was a good flavor and right amount of meat to the tortilla heated and toasted once wrapped. I also tried the gorditas but was not impressed with the film or how they add lettuce and tomato. I will say not bad but not my favorite thing. Worth trying and seeing if you like it. I ended up removí the lettuce and tomato. The tacos and name sake are good and taste. I do like the agua fresca, it is made in house but served in seal bottles. Traditional orchata/ rice water, Jamaica/ hyacinth water , tamarindo and my favorite the limon, pepino and chia seeds ( lemonade/ cucumber and chia. It’s right off or Randal and rout 20, next to McDonald’s, the fox theater ( Marcus theater) in the old Dunking place. Seating and...
Read moreDiscovered this place by accident and tried it. I used the drive through and was initially disappointed by how long it seemed to take. However when I got home to eat I was impressed how good it was. I had a steak burrito which was not only toasted but filled with all the ingredients very generously. The best part was the steak. It was cooked perfectly, not at all chewy but tender and tasty. I've been backed again just because it was so good and this time I waited by the window and could watch while they carefully prepared the meals in a very clean and organized kitchen. Same quality! I don't know if this is a one of a kind or a chain but I can say I'll be back and suggest you give it a try.
I forgot to share one thing about the first visit. I mentioned to the window person that this was my first visit and instead of nothing or a smart comment I was greeted by a smile and a warm " the...
