El Faro Restaurant — Restaurant in Elgin

Used to be great, last two visits were horrible. Last night two of us ate in restaurant.

First person ordered a burrito with steak and cheese only. It had little bits of lettuce all through the meat ( as if cook had to pick the lettuce off because he forgot--customer can't eat lettuce, it should have been remade) and french fries were burnt crisp.

Second person ordered the appetizer platter that comes with nachos, quesadillas, tamales and tacquitos. All of these were listed on the menu as chicken or beef. THE NACHOS WERE MADE WITH CANADIAN BACON. Yes you read that right. And yes it was disgusting. The quesadillas was also made with canadian bacon. The tamales and tacquitos were burnt beyond recognition. I think the tamales may have had beef and the tacquitos may have had pork but they all were too burnt to tell. So basically two of the four appetizers had canadian bacon, none had chicken, and 2 proteins were unidentifiable.

We explained all of this to the manager and cook who were there at the time. We were offered no compensation for our disgusting food. Not even a coupon!

terrible service. the meat in my burrito was nasty more than half of it was grissle and I top of that there was a long black hair in it...and the waitress came to our table once to give us our food and replacment burrito after that didnt see her for the rest of time we were there she didnt even bother to come ask us if you needed anything else or come to refill our drinks how ever she did bother to ask the other patrons of the restaurant if they need anything else. when I went to complain and tell that I was expecting the same great service I get at the chicago location the cook tells me that I shouldn't bother going here and that I should go to the one in chicago if my experience was so bad and they also tried to blame me for the hair that was inside of the burrito. I guess I just want to warn the rest of you not to go here its terrible it looks grimy and the waitress dont even bother to help you after they bring you your they'll sit there to chat amongst themselves. dont even bother with this place its not worth it terrible food...

Their food is really really good it's their customer service that gives them a 1 they barely speak English and because of that reasoning when I called on the phone they got my order wrong I picked up my food and got home and realized my order was wrong I went back up there they replace my order I only checked one of my burritos and it was right but I didn't check the other one because I assumed it was right because the first one was right but it wasn't so I will back up there and just told them they can have the burritos back and I'd like my money back the lady told me well I don't know and then told me that I have to wait the next day until her boss came in and that I could never come back to that restaurant because they messed up my food and I wanted my money back the guy in the back told her to just give me my money and she gave it to me so she just didn't want to give me my money she just wanted to replace my food but I had already gave him...
