Thank you for repairing my chain 4-star review because you couldn’t have been more customer-oriented, given the fact your shop was empty and your response was “We need to start a machine” I had a very simple fix, where the circle/whole where you snap the clasp was broken/ detached from the chain. So it needed to be soldered to the chain. I told them I could wait but the response was, that we normally take up to two days to fix. It was a Tuesday morning before noon, and again the shop was empty. And when I got there the lady asked the guy who repairs if he is going to have the machine turned on today. Their hours are Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday 10 am- 6 pm only! How lucky I am coming here on Tuesday morning! Also, of note, lots of jewelry shops are closed in this area, so I appreciate their business, but I had to come back there twice in one day because they weren't able to do this simple fix right away, given there was nobody at that moment...

My mother is rolling over in her grave. We have been loyal customers for years and years. Mom passed, we took some items in to see if they would like to buy them. They did NOT call us as promised. Finally, I went in to pick them up. THEY LOST THEM! They almost gave me someone elses stuff. They claimed they weren't lost, they just couldn't find them... Not in the safe. Not in the office. Not in the back room. Eventually found in the retail area of the store stashed behind some decorative boxes...huh? I noted management and security issues and Pete the owner had the balls to demand an apology!!! He insisted that hidden in the retail area behind some boxes was just as safe as is in an actual safe!! I've lived in Elgin for better than 60 yrs. I went to Shockeys Jewelry to make a purchase and try to keep my spending supporting locally owned businesses, but apparently I must not have appeared to be worthy. There was 1 other person in the store besides the 2 sales associates & someone in the back, 1 was helping the customer & the other couldn't be bothered to give me the time of day. Neither one said "Hi" or "I'll be right with you" or "How can I help you" nothing. So I took my business elsewhere.
