Jerkies — Restaurant in Elizabeth

I’ve read pretty amazing reviews about Jerkies so I decided to go and give them a try. I ordered my food at 7:23pm, it was empty when I walked in. A lot of people started coming in and ordering after me but got their food before me. I had to keep asking Angie about my order because I see people leaving that came after me. She tells me is it okay that my curry chicken is in pieces .. I said sure fine I just want my food… then 15 entire minutes later I’m asking again, she tells me that my Snapper has 5 more minutes to cook… after already waiting 45 min…. Im a chef myself, it does not take that long even if I was too cook a quick curry chicken from scratch, I didn’t know I had to stand in front line and observe the person working behind the counter just to get the food I ordered. I left with no appetite and a lump in my throat because I wanted to curse her all the way out but I don’t play about my food. I know the food is good, I haven’t even tasted it yet but service towards me was Terrible. I did let her know it would be best to have better communication towards customers because someone else in a different mood would’ve handled that very differently. I ordered food on DoorDash, but my order kept getting reassigned. In nearly 2 hours, 4 different drivers drove to the restaurant and left empty handed without my food. I finally reached out to the 5th Dasher who drove there and asked them what is going on with my order. That’s when I found out someone had already picked it up earlier aka they stole it.

I’m really disappointed with the restaurant. Were you just going to let this go on all night? Why didn’t you just cancel the order, or make me a new one? Where’s the professionalism?

Update: Your explanation doesn’t add up. If the order was marked as delivered, why did multiple DoorDash drivers continue to show up at your restaurant for nearly 2 hours? Clearly, the order was never completed, and I had to call DoorDash myself to cancel my ongoing order and get my money back. As the restaurant, it was your responsibility to either fulfill the order or communicate the issue and cancel it or make a new one—not to allow driver after driver after driver to come in without resolving the situation. Learned about Jerkies on Instagram & put them on my go to list. This place is located downtown Elizabeth & can be very congested with Traffic. I stopped by yesterday 01/17/24 and found a place to park right out in front (awesome). Stepped in and spoke with the guy at the counter who was super nice. I ordered Oxtails w/ rice & beans & Curry Goat w/ rice & beans. The orders also came with plantain, cabbage & collard greens. Nothing was under cooked, or not seasoned. The rice & beans were soft & fluffy. The curry goat was nice & tender.. The portion size is good enough for 2 plates. And this place has a lunch special, I'll be back for the Rasta Pasta & empandas. I told the guy I would write a review and I was pleasantly surprised to see all of their recent reviews praised their food. This is a great addition to Elizabeth as the Elizabeth culinary taste has been primarily Hispanic for many years.
