Halal Central Diner — Restaurant in Elizabeth

Food was very underwhelming. Myself and a couple coworkers ordered from here for breakfast and expected quality food based on other reviews. I and another coworker ordered the chicken and waffles which we were excited for but when we received our food we were highly disappointed. The waffles were regular frozen eggo type waffles not even toasted properly and they were soggy. The chicken wings were small and tasteless and the scrambled eggs were bland. My other coworker ordered fried whiting with grits and scrambled eggs. Her fish was also soggy, scrambled eggs were again bland and cheese were added to her grits when she did not request that. She was so disappointed that she did not finish the meal and proceeded to go buy a new breakfast from elsewhere. We all agreed we would not order...

First time going here the food was good, staff was very nice and respectful, the prices are also good as well. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is because it was kinda of dirty in their. The tables weren’t clean, when I went to sit down to eat I had to remove the trash and put it in another table and after I received my meal and also after I was done eating it no one had picked up the trash that was on the table their was about 2 or 3 tables like that, that was the main factor and it kind of made me feel uncomfortable because of that. So keep that in mind when you go there. There were other staff member their that could have cleared the table but they didn’t, they need to be more on top of that because it kinda of grossed me out. The sandwich looked nothing like the picture of a fluffy bun with breaded chicken. Instead, it was chopped, grilled chicken in a wrap with cheese sauce.

After I raised my concern that the cheese had not been mentioned, the cook quickly went to make it again, rather than any mention of a refund.

I had clarified at the start that it would be fine to pay by credit card, but at the end, the cook was making a big issue of it. The menu said $6.99, then he stated $7.50, then charged me $8. When I questioned the disparity, he said it was the fee for the machine, then said it was tax, then started gesturing to the chalkboard for his disclaimer, ending up settling on one about tax.
