Based on the fact you are reading the reviews of a local hot dog stand I assume you already know what a "Chicago style" hot dog is and that you have high expectations - if you don't know I'm not explaining it's intricacies so you should stop reading. Like all Chicagoans I, too, have been disappointed by other strip mall food joints in the burbs boasting a "Chicago style hotdog", yet failing to achieve the heavenly choir of ingredients on top that Vienna dawg and Rosen's bun; but then there's this Valhalla for all you 'burbians on the northwest side...this place has GOT IT.

Growing up and living in the city I would drive across town in rush hour for a craving (if that's not a statement) but the treasure of Chicago is there's amazing food within walking distance of almost everyone. When I moved out to the burbs I struggled to find a joint that would take me back to my cherished memories of walking into a tiny little building with faded Coke advertisements of yesteryear and the historic Vienna beef poster of a hot dog on Navy Pier while boats squirt mustard and a crane lifts a hot pepper onto it - you know what I'm talking about. This place is THAT place.

You will NOT find a better dawg anywhere in the burbs and, given my years of hot dog experience, I feel confident proclaiming this guy's got his place in the "Chicago style" hall of fame. I've eaten here over a dozen times and every visit yields perfectly fried, FRESH CUT (you watch them press your fires), skin-on french fries, amazing hamburgers, the chicken is always superb - never dry or tough, beef seasoned to perfection, and a flawlessly crafted hot dog; his consistency in quality is untouchable.

At Bubby's no one is going to fold your napkin at your candlelit table, that's not what this place is - Bubby's is the place that quenches Chicago's appetite and defines what "lunch" is. GREAT PLACE FOR CHICAGO STAPLES! I absolutely love this place! From the very first time I walked in there my experience has been nothing but great. I was acknowledged and greeted within seconds of walking in the door and it felt genuine. What cought my attention was how clean people and the working area were in a place that evaporates grease most time. Next thing was the menu. Classic American/Chicagoan staples at very fair prices. I mean there is a sub place next door that charges $14 for a sub! No thanks. Bubby's is where I go. Most importantly because food is ALWAYS fresh and made right in front of you. Moreover their fries are da bomb!💣 I usually get double order cuz they are always made fresh and their oil is changed regularly. I have never had a bad fry experience. I've read some reviews on here and saw people complaining about their fries and I don't understand them. These guys make their fries in front of you. What else do you want? Anyway, I have been coming to Bubby's for a while and I tried majority of items on the menu. Never had a bad experience. Their Polish sausage taste just as I remember my grandma and mom made it. Even their fish sandwich is fresh! And to put a cherry on a top of this review... There was a time where my debit card declined and I had only so much in cash I ended up being $2 short and owner, I believe his name is Andy(forgive me if I'm wrong) said 'no worries pay me next time'. That's how genuine and amazing these people are. I wish they were open on weekends because I would take bunch of my friends in there. I recommend this place to anyone who likes always fresh American classics at fair price with great customer service. And if you end up waiting in line remember that it is a good sign. I came here before, but it has been a hot minute. It took me a minute to figure out what I wanted, so I figured I would have their grilled salami sandwich meal, it came with the fries and a drink.

It took a few minutes to get my order, but it still arrived fairly quickly! The basket of fries looked full and the sandwich looked appetizing! I started on fries and they were pretty good, I am pretty sure, they cut their own fries and you can tell! The sandwich was awesome and very delicious! I was really amazed how well grilled salami tasted!!! I would never have ever thought a grilled salami work, but it did! Highly recommend!
