Sushi, Sashimi & Ramen at Fujiya Japanese Cuisine in Sacramento

Literally the best sushi restaurant in the entire Sacramento region. I've tried so many places in/near Sac and I'm willing to drive 45 minutes here just to eat their rolls and sashimi. I've been here 5 times and brought my family and friends here too. Great quality rolls and they actually give you a lot of sushi per roll. Also, the staff here are so friendly and attentive. They only opened 9 months ago which is very impressive!! Let me start with the best roll on the menu: Kobe roll: seared kobe beef with baby lobster salad on top of tuna, tempura flakes, tobiko. Every bite is literally a gold mine. So much flavor, especially the torched kobe beef!! 🤤 Kamakaz roll: soft shell crab here is cooked to perfection, also comes with crab meat and baby lobster salad. Get it, it's worth it. Sakura roll: soy wrap (in place of seaweed) is delicious. Salmon, tuna, Hamachi, crab meat, baby lobster salad, tamago is a great balance of flavor. It's sweet, salty, and so so fresh. They just put on 6 new rolls! Will try the Gucci roll and Osaka roll next time as I've heard that they are the best. Edit: Osaka roll: unagi, seared tuna, and salmon with savory sauce. Very good combination of flavors, great choice! Ordered chirashi bowl and it's a decent amount of fresh salmon/tuna/hamachi/tamago/ whatever else the chef wants over rice. Good if you want to fill yourself up on raw fish. Daily chef's choice sashimi is a stunning presentation of their freshest available fish. We got shima aji, otoro, snapper, wagyu beef with fresh uni, ikura, salmon and a few others with pickled wasabi. Served atop ice and dry ice. 100% worth it for the taste and the experience! Oysters were fresh, meaty, and flavorful. Can't go wrong with this one. Oyster shooters were also fresh but a tad bit salty for me. Uni nigiri had gold flakes in it! Better than most other restaurants. It's hard to get fresh uni in Sac. Miso soup was mushroom based and so unique compared to other restaurants! I loved the flavor! Truffle hamachi was SO GOOD. I tried to eat every little piece. Chicken karaage was also really really good. Tender chicken, fried outsides. Outside could be fried just a little bit more but that might just be my preference. Ika geso was also really good. Fried squid legs. Bento boxes are good too. I prefer the rolls here but you can't really go wrong with any of their bento options. Don't forget DESSERT! It's not on the menu but it's really good pricing. All desserts can run out if it's a popular time, so be warned! Litchi sorbet is a MUST. There are little chunks of litchi in it. Every bite has tons of sweet flavorful juice, it makes me cry in happiness every time I get to eat this. Good for an adventurous soul. Red bean ice cream also is so delicious, there are red bean chunks nestled inside. It's really fresh every time. Yuzu cheesecake is heckin delicious as well. It's the right amount of sweetness and creaminess. Green tea cheesecake was my least favorite dessert, but it still was really good. It just can't compete with the other three in my opinion, but if you like green tea you should absolutely order it!! I recommend making a reservation for large parties as it can get crowded. Ok in summary everything is top tier quality. I always leave with a full belly and happy memories!

My good friend introduced me to this establishment. Since he's a VIP and frequent customer, he knew exactly what to order. He got us the truffle salmon, which tasted great, but half of the party really wanted hamachi so we ordered the truffle hamachi too. I must say - the dish worked better with salmon as hamachi was too light and easily overpowered by caviar and other flavors. As much as I love hamachi, it should just be eaten sashimi-style. The oysters were fresh and in a nice presentation, but were not the star of the show that night. The ankimo (monkfish liver) had cucumber and caviar with it, and it was a great creation that was refreshing and delicious. I really like the roll with the wagyu beef. Not sure what the name was, but that stood out. Since the food was so good, I decided to get ramen as well. My friends got tonkotsu (that would have been my first choice) so I decided to order the spicy gyuniku ramen. For a restaurant that's not specialized in ramen, their ramen was quite good. Then I found out from my friend that initially this was going to be a ramen restaurant. The owner later decided to change it to the current style. Then the night ended with a bluefin tuna Kama (cheek). I've had hamachi Kama plenty of times, but not this. It was the star of the show! So juicy, tender and flavorful! I was near full, but I still couldn't stop eating it. We were lucky as the restaurant only received 2 cheeks that very morning and this last one was still available. Can't wait to go back again!

1 and done. I should have listen to the Google reviews. So I'll start with the positive first. The ambiance is nice. They are trying really hard to be an upscale Japanese restaurant. They have personalized bowls and nice utensils. Their service was very good on a Saturday lunch time crowd. The waitress was attentive and pleasant. But that's where this all ends.

If you're trying to be an upscale restaurant and charging $$$ for the food, at least you need to have good food. I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. Tonkotsu ramen - soup didn't have the rich flavor that comes with a broth that's been cooked for a long time, the noodles were not firm but more chewy, and the pork didn't just melt in your mouth. I've had ramen at other places in EG and this is not one I would recommend. It's not the worst place I've been to but not worth it. Chicken teriyaki bento box - just read the reviews. The chicken was a little burn and the sauce was watered down. I'm going to stop here. Sakura roll - a decent roll, nice presentation, my initial impression was decent flavor but not something to write home able. I would order this one again. Spider roll - OMG how could you mess this one up. This should be a staple. I'm so disappointed, I don't know what to say. Salmon sashimi - great presentation, decent flavor and not too thin portions. However, at $21 for 6 pieces, I think Mikuni has equivalent sashimi for much less.

Overall, I would say I tried to help a local EG business. But for me, this place is a 1 and done. Good bye, I'm going by to my...

I’m sorry to say this, but I actually have to leave a bad review not some thing I like to do, but in this case I feel that it’s warranted my family and I went to have lunch and to listen to the live music that they had ,which was really great! Unfortunately they lost our order and nobody noticed, even though we brought it up to them, we saw people get seated, order food, eat their food and leave before we even got our appetizers our waiter kept saying oh so sorry about the wait Your food will be out in about 15 minutes. (What’s funny or maybe not so funny is that the restaurant was pretty empty when we got there because we got there before the show started) This happened multiple timesonce they realize they had lost our order. They didn’t even try to get it out to us. , we were there for almost 2 hours before we decided to leave, my family wanted to walk out, but I of course spoke to the manager and said we would like to leave, as we were leaving, they brought out some random food that we didn’t order ,I said no thank you as you can see we are leaving. Then I went to the front counter with the manager. They charged us , did not comp us for our appetizers and even tried to charge me for the full meal that we never received, until I said to her that we didn’t get the food and I’m not paying for that. She simply said oh I know sorry, proceeded to charge me for the couple appetizers We got,Didn’t comp us despite apologizing for having lost our order and not noticing. needless to say, I paid it despite my family’s protest and left. really...
