Happy to found this place for lunch with my friend at the last minute. We initially wanted to go to Yoshi Japanese (few shops down) but they were closed for vacation.
My friend immediately was so excited that they have Gobi 65, which is deep fried cauliflower marinated in Indian spices. She had this dish when she was in Africa? and haven't had it in the states. Apparently not many Indian restaurants serve this Southern India dish. Out of curiosity, I want to know more about this unique name and why 65? The first version is Chicken 65, and is believed to have originated at the Hotel Buhari in 1965. But over the years many other ideas for how the name was created have emerged, like the story that the name comes from 65 chillies used or that each batch included 65 pieces of chicken. I personally love cauliflower so I enjoyed this dish every much and would definitely get this appetizer again.
For my lunch entree, I had the Vijayawada Boneless Chicken Biryani. It was delicious and burst with flavors. It's on the spicier side, so it was good that I had the Mango Lassi to offset the spicy. Generous portion - I took half of it home for lunch the next day and it's the perfect leftover dish. My friend had the Chicken Tikka Marsala. You really can't go wrong with this popular dish and she really enjoyed it.
There were so many beverage options. I had the Mango Lassi and it was flavorful and refreshing. I had so questions about the other drinks but we had limited time for lunch. I would have to come back soon and to try the...
Read moreThey just don’t care about customer service, went there 2 times (first time I went 1 hr before and then second time I went 45 mins before their posted closing time) each time they were like “oh we’re about to close and we’re not taking customers” then when I was about to leave they let me sit. The skinny girl taking orders was alright but the other girl makes you feel so uncomfortable by giving you those frustrated expressions as if she wants you to leave right away and looks like she doesn’t like to work there.
And one time I tried to call in for store pickup about 45 mins before store close and got the same reply that “we are not taking any more orders”
My only advice to the owner is that other food places let their customers in till last 5-10 min of their actual closing time. If your servers don’t wanna work for that long, just change the...
Read moreThis place is over priced for the frozen and reheated food they serve. I’m shocked at ho is even getting good reviews! We ordered a plate of gobi manchurian and it had no taste/flavor and they literally served a little bit on a small plate (def overpriced). We also ordered a masala dosa and an onion dosa. The potatoe filling was not fresh and was definitely reheated after being in the freezer for a while. Ordered some mango lassi and it was only half filled, like wth. It’s funny because these people really think we are stupid and can’t tell the difference between fresh and stale food. I’m positive that almost every dish they serve is reheated except probably the naan. Please don’t go here. It’s disgusting and over priced. I’ve had dosa many times before and this isn’t it! Frozen filling, cold sambar (also frozen),...
