⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | One of Elk Grove’s Hidden Japanese Gems
Satori is a small, welcoming Japanese restaurant tucked away in Elk Grove — and it’s quickly become one of our go-to spots. It’s usually pretty packed (a good sign), with a clean interior, a sushi bar, and a big TV that adds a casual vibe.
This is my dad’s favorite place, especially for the chef’s choice sashimi plate — he always requests only salmon and Ahi Tuna, and the portions are incredibly generous. The pieces of fish are thick, fresh, and definitely a highlight. (See photo if you’re checking this out on reviews — it speaks for itself!)
I usually order the teriyaki salmon as part of their two-choice bento combo. I like it cooked medium and they always honor special requests, which I really appreciate. That said, cooking consistency can vary slightly — once in a while the shrimp tempura comes out a bit overdone, but most times it’s just right.
The miso soup here is one of the best around — full of flavor and loaded with tofu. I’ve also tried their chicken katsu, and while I’m not a huge fan of the sauce that comes with it, I do love their teriyaki sauce — especially on the salmon or teriyaki chicken.
Their sushi rolls are always delicious, and the menu has a great variety without being overwhelming. The plating is attractive, the servers are friendly, and service is quick — you order and your food arrives fast.
Prices are super reasonable for the quality, which makes this place even better. There’s consistency in the flavors and a sense of pride in the food. Definitely a solid Japanese restaurant that keeps us...
Read moreLocated in the Walmart shopping center, this restaurant is fairly busy on a regular basis although you usually don’t have to wait for a table at lunchtime. You may have to on weekends at dinner. I have eaten here often and have had great meals and, occasionally, poor ones. The latter typically happens when the tempura is greasy (sometimes it is perfect and sometimes not) or the sushi rolls are rolled too large (they’re supposed to be bite sized). Sushi is usually tasty and they offer many different types of rolls. Bento boxes are quite large. The servers are usually very good. The worst things about this restaurant are that it is usually cold inside, and they play loud, obnoxious music AND have 2 or 3 televisions on. If they toned down the atmosphere I think it would be much more...
Read moreGreat sushi! And they take every precaution to make sure their staff and the customers are protected. Between mask requirements (yes, you'll be told to leave of you dont have a mask) and tape markings for 6 ft distances as well as limitations of the number of people in the establishment...all best practices. The sushi is amazing and so fresh...the salmon poke is nice and spicy but not tongue burning (great because I like to taste my food). We order the Cali #2, Patriot, Lobster Bake, Hawaiian and Spider rolls. We try a new one each time and never disappointed. You have to try it if you're in the market for a safe sushi place that you can feel good that you won't get sick from the food or others that patron them. Great food, Great people,...
