While not the most accessible place considering there's no turn lane into the lot, which is obviously not their fault, Paris Banh Mi has a noisy but small cafe atmosphere which is worth visiting. The holiday decorations can be a bit noisy visually and annoyingly obstructed part of the menu from the queue. The gaudiness subtracts from the otherwise cozy feeling but growing up in this sort of environment, I come to expect that from small Asian shops. I'd recommend using the kiosk to order if you don't need any staff assistance. The combo banh mi uses a thin baguette. Initial impressions were disappointing, but I now believe the form factor provides a superior balanced eating experience per bite, has a satisfying crusty texture, and definitely fulfills the criteria for a banh mi. The rustic cut do chua appeared to be barely pickled, but was unexpectedly sweet and balanced without the harsh raw vegetal flavor that the appearance would otherwise lead one to believe. The pate was noticeable and compounded the pork flavor which is an unfortunate rarity among the Sac/Elk Grove banh mi places. If I had to critique the banh mi, it was a bit dry and could have used a dab of mayo. If this had a smear of Vietnamese mayo, I think this would have been a perfect and most authentic banh mi in the area. I also ordered a Vietnamese coffee, no ice. The sweetness reminded me of the Vietnamese coffee mixes, sweetness that encroaches upon the coffee flavor a bit too much, but had enough bitterness to convince me that it was brewed coffee. Service was unfortunately a conflicting mixed bag. The food came quick and the wait staff was friendly enough. It was also close to the lunch rush so I was already more understanding of any misgivings. That said, it felt really disorganized behind the counter. While waiting in line a person approached off to the side. I thought they were picking up a delivery or maybe amending something because the staff asked if it was alright to serve them first, but it sounded like a new order. I won't hold that against the staff but it was definitely confusing and there was already a sizeable line behind me which made me sweat a bit for letting them cut in line. When my order came, they called my number clearly but it was only the banh mi and I couldn't get the attention of any staff quickly as they were occupied with other orders. I eventually noticed that the drink area had separate ticketing and waited for my coffee which followed soon after. The staff did not call out the order number again after bringing the coffee to the service window, possibly because the banh mi was already in my hands, so I had to check the receipt under the cup myself to confirm it was mine. I also noticed a sign hiring for someone to make drinks. Considering the lunch time and possibly being short staffed, I can understand why my experience was how it was, but it definitely could have been better with a more structured workflow. The "back" should only focus on moving things to the window while the "front" staff tended to the register, making drinks, and calling orders.
Overall: Good food. Fast service after ordering. Somewhat disorganized staff. I'd definitely revisit if I have a banh mi craving. Despite inconveniences, it's nothing that can't be immediately...
Read morePoor customer service Rude, Mean employees No respect for customer Especially the seniors citizens Don’t treat customers Equally & respectfully
They are located in Elk Grove blvd, Elk Grove, CA, and the location is beautifully designed plus extremely appealing, also it has the capacity of pretty much good amount of customers at once ;however, the employees don’t behave respectfully when it comes to seniors citizens. I’m sure they think that they will be young , healthy, and happy forever which is totally WRONG. They really need to take care of the cleanliness/hygiene of their restaurant because HEALTH is WEALTH, but unfortunately they don’t, so a big FAT ZERO to the cleanliness which must be the priority for the owner of the restaurant plus employees. The restrooms are not clean either, but beautifully designed. The prices are high compared to the other restaurants in the area, and ingredients don’t look and taste fresh enough to be this much pricey. The wait time is longer than normal so expect a 30 minute wait time for a small regular drink order. They offer different kind of service like dine in, delivery, and takeout, also you can place your order through kiosk which is great , but be careful the kiosk can be manipulative sometimes so make sure to ask the staff if they receive your order or not. They are wheelchair accessible, but seats inside the restaurant are not enough comfort for physically disabled customers so try to use your own accommodations. The parking is small , also crowded, and you can’t find parking easily including the handicapped parking spaces so you need to park somewhere else, and walk to the restaurant . My first experience was really bad because I place my order through Kiosk, and waited almost 35 minutes so the customer behind me in the line got their drinks& food, but unfortunately not me. When I asked the front desk lady then she was rude, and I was told they didn’t receive it. I even paid for my order, and have the receipt so how can you ignore me while handing out that receipt? What really made me mad was not the order , but their attitude, and behavior, also no apologies were offered. NO REFUNDS NO REPLACEMENTS. That was really waste of time , and money. Again Decorating & designing your restaurant is not important unless you are not providing a great customer service, and solve the problems you created for your customers. I’m not coming back here , and will never recommend this location to friends and families....
Read moreI’ve tried banh mi sandwiches around the world, so I was expecting a lot when visiting this new fast casual restaurant in Elk Grove. When I first walked in, it wasn’t clear where the line began to order the sandwiches, it is way off to the right in front of the registers.
I visited with family because they said they wanted to try it for lunch, I was happy to go with. I walked up to the nice person at the register and asked which banh mi sandwiches were the most popular. She said the house specials with three types of meat. I ordered one of them with roast beef.
I then politely asked if they might clean a table off, as the previous patrons left them quite crummy, as baguettes do. Two of the staff kinda laughed it off and left the front counter. Ok, I’ll try again when I pick up my order. Maybe 10 minutes went by, and my number was called. I inquired again about a table cleaning to which someone finally agreed.
I like the decor of the restaurant, however some of the dessert prices are $7 plus. The sandwich I ordered was $6.50, but this is California and everything is unnecessarily expensive here.
I waited until everyone in my party had their sandwiches, which was another 10 or so minutes. No big deal, they are new and it was somewhat busy.
And then I opened my sandwich, to which I posted a photo on here. Pretty good looking and definitely tasty.
However, it wasn’t my sandwich, it was someone else’s in my party. We switched sandwiches and then they discovered it was made with the wrong bread, baguette not croissant, and it didn’t have shredded pork, but sliced pork. Unfortunately, the baguettes are pretty chewy and I could feel my jaw getting a workout. The other banh mi sandwiches that I’ve tried have always had the freshest baguettes. Maybe they can try a different baker?
At this point, we were both too hungry from waiting to go back and get a redo on the sandwiches. They were however, appropriately spicy with a small bit of sweet, just like I wanted them to be.
I’ll probably go back in the future, hoping they do a better job of getting the...
