I took my elderly father here last week and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was so we decided to go again tonight. It was about 7:15pm - I think a reasonable dinner hour. As soon as we sat down and received our food, an employee propped open one of 2 entrance/exit doors and started to mop. It is currently 43 degrees (feels like 38). My father who is 81 started to shiver. I asked nicely if we could shut the door and the employee said they were mopping and needed to dry the floors. So we rushed through our food, which certainly lost its appeal through our chattering teeth. When we were trying to leave, they had blocked the door we had entered through with slippery-when-wet signs. I asked if we could get through and they replied we could go out the back door. My father is very clearly disabled and walks extremely slowly with a walker and the extra steps they were telling him to navigate felt unnecessarily cruel. I doubt they were trying to be mean, but at the very least it was obtuse not to notice how challenging it was for my father to get around. I have worked in restaurants before. I understand trying to get a jump on closing duties, but not at the price of the current diners - especially when the restaurant doesn’t close til 9pm. We rushed to get out of there by 7:30-7:35. We spent around $60 for 2 meals and 2 beers. No matter how good the food is, it’s not worth being treated so...
Read moreFirst time here, and the service was horrible. It was a full house and only 2 girls on the floor. One spent her time slowly wiping down here and there instead of helping the other girl out who seemed to be overwhelmed as she was the only one bringing the food out. She would be delivering the wrong food (we overheard) to the table next to us. We had to continue to ask for all the food we ordered as she would only bring out one thing at a time and seemed to forget each time of all that was ordered for our table. The menudo (stomach) seemed like it wasn't properly washed before being cooked (it had that weird smell/taste) and could've used some more seasoning. I ordered huevos rancheros with the sauce on the side but it took forever to get the sauce so by the time I got it, I only had one bite left but they were still good without the sauce. Their freshly made corn tortillas were also great. The price of the food was not worth it, especially with the not so great service it comes with. If it wasn't for the bad service, we would try to give it another chance but highly...
Read moreBEWARE USING RESTAURANT.COM GIFT CERTIFICATES AT THIS RESTAURANT. So got $50 worth of Gift certificates from restaurant.com; had to get the certificates increments of $5 and $10 (so got 4x10 and 2x5) went to the Taqueria Los Compadres (Elk Grove, CA) and tried to use this and I was told by the cashier who called and confirmed with Valentine the owner that only 1 restaurant.com gift certificate can be redeemed and there has to be a minimum purchase of $30 in order to use it and the cashier tells me this after 1 $10 gift card was redeemed and they were not able to return that $10 (cashier was on the phone with Valentine the owner). They seemed to be guessing on the minimum purchase amount and did not honor our voucher after insisting on marking as redeemed at the beginning of the transaction and not knowing the actual rules. They said they can do nothing about it. And if you each have your own voucher, they'll let only one person redeem it, not everyone. Bad customer...
